Chapter 7: The Wolf Awakens

I closed my laptop after wrapping up the last of my work. Leaning back in my chair, I stretched, rolling the stiffness from my shoulders.

The office had long emptied.

Silence blanketed the entire floor, broken only by the faint hum of the air conditioner. Normally, I enjoyed the peace. Tonight, however, something felt... off.

A strange emptiness settled in my chest.

Then a familiar growl echoed through my mind.

"Finally."

"You actually noticed my absence for the first time since you were reborn." His voice dripped with amusement. "I'm impressed."

A faint smile tugged at my lips.

"Don't flatter yourself."

"Oh?" Mida chuckled. "Then why do you suddenly feel like something's missing? You haven't spoken to me properly in days."

"I've been busy."

"Busy thinking about her."

"Can you blame me?"

Mida laughed.

"No. Not when you've fallen so hard."

I leaned back in my chair, letting out a quiet sigh.

"The problem isn't how I feel."

"I know."

"It's getting close to her without making it seem forced."

"Exactly." Mida's tone became thoughtful. "And what should I call her? Your love? Your mate?"

He paused for a moment.

"Although... I won't know if she's our fated mate in this second chance life until I see her with my own eyes."

Silence lingered briefly before a mischievous chuckle escaped him.

"Fortunately for you..." he drawled. "I think I've come up with a plan."

I sat up immediately, my interest piqued.

After thinking about Darius Ravencrest all day yesterday I was able to get his thoughts off my head.

Looks like he took the bait, then I slowly open my eyes and tilt my head up towards him to lock eyes with him and give him the most innocent look that could make one's heartbeat rise.

Then another idea pops into my head, I take a step back as Kieran was about to walk away.

"Are you going to the auditorium?"I asked. "No", he growled.

The auditorium was packed. Every seat was occupied, and the room buzzed with excited whispers until the Dean stepped up to the podium and tapped the microphone once.

The chatter gradually died down.

He paused, allowing anticipation to build.

"Please join me in welcoming your new professor for Advanced Alpha Governance..."

The entire auditorium held its breath.

"Darius Ravencrest—CEO of Ravencrest Holdings and Now Distinguished Professor at Mooncrest Royal University."

"Have you ever considered seeing her every day?" Mida asked suddenly.

I frowned.

"Mida, stop speaking in riddles and get to the point."

"Alright, alright." He chuckled. "No need to lose your temper."

A brief pause followed before he spoke again.

"Become her professor."

I blinked.

“Since she's in university, the only way for you to get close to her is to become professor” he said.

"Professor?"

The word settled in my mind.

Then realization struck.

I sat upright so fast my chair nearly rolled backward.

A satisfied grin spread across my face.

"That's it."

Mida laughed.

"Told you I was the smarter half."

"For once, I agree."

"Don't get used to it."

And just like that, he retreated into the back of my mind, leaving me alone with the perfect plan.
