I sleep on the floor outside Grayson’s bedroom door. As the night deepens, my wolf’s consciousness reaches out to our sleeping vita. Grayson has a nightmare, but it soon fades. As the night goes on, Grayson and I breathe at the same pace. Our hearts beat in sync.
When Grayson awakens, I do as well.
I track her gentle footsteps as she moves closer. A long creak sounds as the door opens.
“Good morning, Grayson.”
She gasps. “You’re here.”
“I’ve slept in stranger places. How as your rest?”
“Not great. I had nightmares.”
“I could sense your heart racing. It didn’t last too long, though.” I slowly hoist myself to a seating position.
“Whoa. Your wolf is massive.”
