Chapter 11: When Love Becomes Dangerous

353 Words
The kiss changed everything. Stephanie and Sean couldn’t look at each other the same way again. Every glance lingered longer, every touch burned hotter, every smile carried a secret. But it wasn’t long before the campus began to notice. Whispers spread through the hallways. “Have you seen them together?” “Stephanie and Sean Adi? Impossible.” “She must be after his money.” Vanessa, of course, fueled the rumors like wildfire. She walked around with her clique, sneering loudly whenever Stephanie passed. “Some people don’t know their place,” she said one morning in the cafeteria, loud enough for everyone to hear. “From scholarship girl to gold digger—it’s a pity.” Stephanie tried to ignore her, but the looks from other students burned. It felt like the whole school had turned into a stage, and she and Sean were unwilling actors. --- One night, Sean showed up at her apartment unannounced. His jaw was tight, his hands shoved into his pockets. “Steph… we need to talk.” She let him in, concern rising. “What’s wrong?” Sean exhaled heavily, pacing the small living room. “My dad found out. About the kiss. About us.” Stephanie froze. “H-how?!” “He has people everywhere,” Sean said bitterly. “He told me if I don’t end this, he’ll cut me off. No money. No inheritance. Nothing.” Stephanie’s stomach twisted. “Sean, that’s your whole future—” “I don’t care!” Sean snapped, turning toward her. His voice cracked with frustration. “For once in my life, I don’t care about his money, or his stupid company, or what anyone thinks. The only thing I care about is you.” Stephanie’s heart pounded. The rawness in his voice was undeniable. But so was the fear gnawing at her. “Sean, you don’t understand. Loving you is dangerous. For me. For you. For everything.” But when he reached for her hand, she didn’t pull away. Instead, she realized the truth. Dangerous or not, she had already fallen. End of Chapter 11.
