The tension between them only grew after that conversation.
Sean became relentless—waiting for her after class, showing up at the café, texting her late into the night.
And Stephanie… she wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull anymore.

It happened on a rainy evening.
Stephanie was leaving the library when the skies opened up, drenching the campus. She dashed toward the lecture hall for shelter, only to bump straight into Sean—soaked, standing there as if he’d been waiting for her.
“Sean?” she gasped, water dripping from her hair. “What are you doing here?”
He gave a small, crooked smile. “Looking for you. Seems like the rain wanted us both here.”
Stephanie rolled her eyes, but her heart was racing.
“You’re crazy. You’ll get sick—”
Before she could finish, Sean stepped closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.
“Then at least I’ll have you to take care of me.”
Her breath caught. The closeness, the rain pounding around them, the intensity in his eyes—it was too much.
“Sean, we can’t…” she started, her voice trembling.
But he silenced her by gently cupping her face, tilting her chin upward. For the first time, his arrogance was gone. What she saw in his eyes was raw, unguarded.
“I don’t care about the rules anymore,” he murmured.
And then, before Stephanie could think, his lips met hers.

It wasn’t a forced kiss, or a playful dare—it was desperate, deep, filled with everything they had been holding back.
Stephanie’s hands trembled, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she melted into it, her heart betraying every promise she had made to herself.
When they finally broke apart, breathing heavily, Sean rested his forehead against hers.
“Tell me you didn’t feel that,” he whispered.
Stephanie’s chest heaved as she searched for words. She should have denied it, should have reminded him this was fake.
But the truth slipped out before she could stop it.
“I did.”
