A pretty girl like her must have had a lot of boyfriends. No, she had to admit, there were really very few, for she had her standards. Early on she had decided she would save herself for a prince who was sure to come rescue her from her common parents and the dull village. She looked in the mirror and she felt certain of her destiny, a destiny she shared with no one but her diary. It was something the other kids didn’t understand, especially the girls, who accused her being stuck up, and a snob. But they didn’t know that she secretly dreamed of life among the aristocracy — a Lady of some fine Mansion.
