Chapter 13

1012 Words
'Oh no, this is not happening!' whispered Ivan, suddenly awake. I didn't know what to do or what to say, and then out of nowhere I said, "hide." At that moment, the door started to move. Ellen was trying to get in, but I always locked the door so, we had more time to escape if this happened. Ivan couldn't hide. He had to escape otherwise she would sniff him in the air. Also, I needed to find something to make his smell go away. Probably Ellen knew already he was in here. When she started screaming angrily, "Let me in!" We knew for sure. This was bound to happen, and I knew, but what could I do to keep her out, so we could both escape? I had an escape route in mind, but it was going to be a bit painful, but since we are wolves we will heal fast from it. I opened the window and I tried to let Ivan know who was hiding under the bed to come out of his hiding spot and go with me. A while later we jumped through the one-meter-high, distant, widow above the ground. Luckily, we didn't break anything. Our bones just did hurt a lot. By the time we ran into the woods, Ellen kicked in the door and I heard her screaming, "You two come out of your hiding spot. I know you here." When I stopped running for a while, she growled. That was the sign that she knew we were gone. Now we had to run fast, before she could jump through the window. I hoped by the time when we are back she had cooled down a bit. Before we got back, I tried to show Ivan the spot I went through once where I met Elf. When we got to the spot, I saw Elf bath at the swimming pool. 'Hi Elf, How are you?' I said. He was startled and turned around. Ivan looked strangely my way and said, "To whom are you talking?" I thought I wasn't mad when I thought that other wolves just couldn't see this spot. 'Hi Elf.' Answered back. I asked Ivan, "Do you know for sure that you can't see Elf?" "I am very sure." The only question was why could I see him and no other wolf? It was just strange. How could this be? When we got home, I would ask my mom. 'Would you like to come to the pool with your friend there?' 'Maybe another time.' I said. Ivan looked weird at me and I said, "I will explain when we are home." When we got home, the sun was already setting. Luckily, Ellen wasn't that angry anymore, but she still was. I think she just tried to hide it for me because my mom was also in the living room. I almost forgot she had kicked at my door. Only the idea of the door being gone made me scared. I wasn't safe anymore in my own room. Where do I have to go now? I couldn't ask my mom if I could sleep with her. That would be weird. Also, I couldn't sleep with Ivan because Ellen would do the same there with the door if we didn't open. The only escape that then went through my mind was Marnik. That was also a dangerous thing to do, but one of the best choices for now. At least till my door was back hanging in the hole where my door was. I was exhausted, so I decided to ask my mom tomorrow about Elf. 'Good night everyone.' I said and when I went upstairs Ivan followed me. 'Where are you going to sleep tonight, he asked. I am sorry, but I have to sleep with Marnik, so Ellen can calm down a bit more. Ivan looked confused, but then understood, and I hope he did, because I already felt scared to sleep with Marnik in one room. A while later, I knocked on Marniks door. I heard a sleepy, "come in." On the other side of the door. When he had sniffed, it was me. I heard him running to the door and open it for me. He was in boxers and for a while I stared at him. That wasn't a good idea because his eyes turned black. 'Marnik snap out of it!' I tried to reason, but before I could do anything, he kissed me. As fast as his lips came down on mine, I put my knee between his legs. 'Ouch!' He screamed. He fell on the ground and I went into his room. 'If I sleep here you behave, OK!' I warned him. He nodded. 'I am going to shower. Don't get anything in your head. I am going to lock the door.' With those harsh words he started to shiver. Ava was whimpering in my head. 'That was too harsh on him.' She whimpered. I had to give in and listen to her. I went back into the room and hugged Marnik. 'I am sorry. I didn't mean to be so harsh on you. It's just that it is too dangerous to do those things.' 'It's about the curse. It has rules. I hope you know them already?' 'In fact I didn't.' He said with a confused look on his face. Since when was I the only one who knew about it? I had to find out if Ivan knew. This is strange. It's like he is losing his memory. Then Ava said, "Every time he tries to mate you he loses a bit of his memory of the rules and about the curse." I was shocked, so hard that I couldn't move anymore. Marnik saw that I was going to faint again and grabbed me just in time before I could touch the ground. What just happened? That was the only thought going through my head. I didn't know anything about this. With that thought, everything went black, and I felt myself fall in Marniks arms.
