The grip loosened and when I turned around I saw no one anymore. It went so fast that I felt scared. Maybe it was just some prank.
As fast as I could, I walked to my last class of the day. The way there, I kept looking around to be sure if no one had been following me. Still, that didn't happen. Since the person touched me, Ava felt awake, but still she couldn't find out what was going on, and what had woken her up?
When I arrived at the gym, everyone was there already. The humans and the werewolves were in two different parts of the gym, so our secret couldn't be leaked. I found it fascinating that it was that way. There was a running test today, and I happened to be very good at it. I was even better than the boys in my class. Mr. Fermus came in class. I always gave him the nickname Mr. Famous because he was kind of, since he was the best gymnast in the world of werewolves. I always thought it was a dangerous sport. Still, werewolves can't hurt themselves much.
Mr. Fermus started his class with, "Hi, today it's a beautiful day to run. Let's go outside. Take some extra clothes with you. It's a bit cold outside."
Before we walked outside, everyone took some extra clothes, but not me. I never felt cold in my legs, even when I were a short pants. A sweater I always brought just in case because my arms always felt colder.
It was indeed cold when we went outside.
One girl started nagging, "Mr. Fermus, can we not just run inside? It's way too cold to run outside."
'I am sorry, but today the humans run inside. For them, it is much colder. Remember that we have an extra layer of skin, so we are hotter.'
Each year it was always the same, but I never complained about the cold at the beginning of the spring.
When we got to the track it was decent not to, wet from the dew and not too hard from the frost. It was perfect to run on for me. Some said it was a bit hard.
'Today is your very first test of this semester, so make the best out of it.' Mr. Fermus said.
We got stretched first at the bars of the track and then the test could begin.
Still, I found it a bit creepy, since Mr. Fermus couldn't see all the field from his distance and that was kind of creepy. Since I was touched by someone who could still be hanging around here. The school didn't feel safe anymore for me. I felt so scared that when Mr. Fermus blew his wissel. I didn't start running directly.
Mr. Fermus asked, "Tiene, are you OK? You just seemed distracted?"
'No, I am fine.' I said and started running as fast as I could to keep up with the others.
The field didn't feel good any more under my feet. My legs were all gloomy. I couldn't run almost run. The further I got into the fields, the more scared I got. I felt like walking all of a sudden as I wanted to run as fast as possible. My gloomy legs wouldn't stop walking and I pannicked what made it worse.
By the time everyone was already there, I came in, and I knew I lost. Normally, I had the best grades, but now they would be really low. That was not good for my university, where I wanted to go too. Still, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go there or just stay in Belgium. The good thing that I felt when I finished the run was that I was safe.
Mr. Fermus came to me after class and asked again, "Are you sure your OK?" It didn't seem that way. Now you really have to worry about your grades."
Luckily, everyone was already outside waiting for the bell signal and I hoped the wolves didn't hear us talking. Now Marnik was my soulmate. I wasn't that popular yet.
Then, when I got to the parking lot and got my bike. Marnik stopped me and asked, "are you OK? You seem off today?"
To him, I had to tell the truth. I just couldn't hide it from him.
'Something happened today. You are right. When I went outside to the gym, someone grabbed my arm, but nothing happened. I didn't even see who it was. I am sure it was a male. Since he had big hands. I still felt like creeping out.'
He looked worried at me and said, "Don't worry, I will protect you. This will not happen again. Let's bike to your home together.'
'I am grounded, and my mom would not be fine with you coming in if she was home. My dad will be neither, so be prepared.'
I started laughing, but I really meant it and Marnik seemed to know that I did.
He was the only one not laughing and I stopped directly.
'What's wrong? Did I do something?'
'No, you're just acting weird, and I am worried about you. That's all.'
We started cycling and now Marnik is with me. I felt safe. I didn't feel like someone would follow me and him. I could finally relax again.
On the ride to my home we didn't talk. We just needed silence, I guess.
Finally, we arrived at my parents' house, and it felt so good to be home again. It felt safe, but when I saw my mother wasn't home I got scared again.
'Please can you stay, Marnik?' I asked.
'Yeah, of course, I know you are scared, and your parents will understand. Don't worry, I will take care of it.'
With those words, I opened the door. Luckily, my parents had left the light on in the garage this time, so I felt less scared.
We went directly to my room and I took my books out of my school bag.
Marnik came sitting behind me on the bed, and it felt safe, but I said, 'No other touches then hugs. I have to concentrate.
He touched my arm lightly to joke, but it felt just amazing. I wanted to kiss him, but then we heard a sound coming from the back door. I felt scared since it was way to early for my mom to be home. I tried to look out of my window if I saw something, but I couldn't see anything and then when I concentrated I saw.....
