Her former roommate wouldn’t leave her side. It was comforting at first, but Alyssalee longed for some alone time. She knew being labeled as a heretic of UNUM weighed on Gwendelyn. UNUM meant everything to her. Her pseudo-sister put her own feelings on hold to comfort her. And Alyssalee loved her for it, but it was becoming overwhelming.
“What will you do now that you are...” Alyssalee trailed off.
Gwendelyn’s expression turned serious. “Like you said, those evil beings have infiltrated UNUM. And now it’s my job to root them out.”
Gwendelyn fiddled with the bright orange-red strands of her hair. “The precepts of UNUM must be considered outside of the context of the One Unified God. Alyssalee, I think you know, the religious construct created by humans does not make the creator.”
