The suffocation Sophie felt as they tried to contain her in that box still haunted her. But she was so thankful to the man with the swords for helping her understand the truth of her condition. She was dead. Well, at least in the flesh. He showed her she could live beyond the agony of loss that permeated her being. There were things she could do to be useful—to still make a difference. Maybe more of a difference in death than when she walked the earth. She relived memories from her former life—over and over. Her goal was to reprogram her soul with those memories. There were many things she didn’t understand around the intersection between the memories once held in her living brain and how her soul felt them. There was a huge chasm in the difference.
