Mike Mello’s POV
Standing in the crowd, watching my oldest daughter graduate makes me so proud. Before I met my wife Kelly, I never imagined I could be blessed with such a women who could turn my life around. She accepted me when I was broken and had given up on so much. Her love and patience pushed me to go back to school, start my own business, then not only did she agree to marry me, but also birthed three beautiful children. And now I get to watch my oldest start a new life in college. I cheer for my girl as she receives her diploma and comes down the steps of the stage. Suddenly Molly stops and I notice she is staring off at someone in the crowd. Her facial expression and body language came off like she was surprised; is she blushing? Suddenly the boyfriend, Shawn steps in the way and kisses my daughter on the cheek. I can’t stand the little s**t. He thinks he is hilarious, but I just find him obnoxious. I growl at the affectionate moment, but then hear another growl from elsewhere. What the hell? Someone else is watching my daughter, and they too were not fond of this Shawn fellow. I instinctively sniff as I gaze across the crowd. These last few months I have felt like my family, and I were being watched. After the principal announced the last high school graduate name, the families crowded all the graduates and started the hugs and photos. “Does anyone else see her?”, my youngest daughter Jacey comments. She is only 10 years old, but just as independent and strong as her older siblings. My son Zach grabs ahold of her hand to guide her through the crowd and makes sure she doesn’t get lost. The love and protectiveness my family has for each other makes me smile again and reminds me how thankful I am. Next year is Zach’s turn to graduate, so we will have to repeat this ritual again. “There she is!” Kelly comments and breaks my train of thought. Molly was standing in one place. Her stance and gaze gave her a look like she was hunting for someone, not us specifically. Who is she looking for? “Hey congratulations honey, we are so proud of you!” We all hug and I still for a moment as I feel like we are being watched again. I look around and ask my daughter “Were you looking for someone honey?”, “Nope! I was just searching for you guys!” she replies too quickly to my question and I’m not convinced she is being honest with me, which is rare for her to not tell me things.
We wrap everythig up with photos and I slowly usher everyone back to the car. Molly gets to the car first and we all notice the giant bouquet of roses sitting on the hood. Someone must of just dropped them off moments before because I don’t recall them being their 3 minutes ago when I used the auto start on my key. “Oh wow, does somebody have a secret admirer?” my son comments as he grabs the card. “Well, obviously he doesn’t know you well enough, or else he would have bought you your favorite flowers; sunflowers and baby’s breath.” I snide and tease as I examine my daughter’s response and whether she is about to name this mystery man. “well it’s from two people supposedly so maybe it’s not an admirer. Just some friends fooling around.” She replies nonchalantly. I grab the card from my son and sniff it. Although I don’t have all my senses, I still out of habit fall back on my old instincts. The crowd of people in the parking lot is paying no attention to us, but still, I feel like someone is practically breathing down my neck. “Dad, did you just sniff that card?” my son asks. I ignore his question because I have no idea on how to reply. I signal for everyone to load up in the car and we drive off for dinner; I don’t have much of an appetite though anymore.
Wyatts POV
I watched my little mate load up in her family vehicle and drive away. She is obviously very close with her family and it’s comforting to know that she is the type that likes to be surrounded by loved ones, they are like their own small pack. “Mmm, little mate will give us lots of pups when she’s ours.” I feel my groin begin to stiffen as I imagine holding her while she carries our pup in her full belly. I mentally slap the image from my mind “We must be patient; we have a few years to go till we can have our little mate. Her father seems like he might be a problem, did you see how he reacted to our gift?” “Yeah he seems like a real asshole” growled Benson. “That’s not what I meant Benson, did you not notice the way he surveyed the crowd looking for us? I almost felt hunted, especially after smelling our note we wrote to our mate, it was almost wolfish behavior”. I feel disappointed in myself that I feel a little intimidated by the human man. But they all smell human, we would be able to smell them if they were wolves. “I know, I might be imagining things, but it wouldn’t hurt to look deeper into the fathers family history.” Suddenly dread and anger engulfs me as I hear the familiar male voice of Shawn right next to me. The obnoxious boy who is now dating my Molly. I understand dating is an important experience for young couples, and I shall not interfere with Molly’s love life, no matter how much it hurts. But this Shawn bastard is not the one I want her enjoying her free summer with. I’ve sent some warriors to watch Shawn and make sure he is no threat. The results have not been kind, although he hasn’t cheated on my Molly, he sure likes to flaunt his flirtatious personality at all types of other women when Molly isn’t with him. I know guys like him, it’s only a matter of time before he slips, and betrays my precious Molly, and I won’t let him get away with it. Shawn is talking to some tiny blonde girl who looks to be under 5 feet tall, a piggy looking nose with way too much makeup. She too is wearing a graduation gown. “I saw you kiss her after she grabbed her diploma, I don’t know what you see in her, it should have been me that you sat next to during graduation”, the noises that came out of this little human were high pitch and snobby sounding. Shawn towers over the tiny blonde and kisses her on the cheek, don’t worry babe, after this summer it will just be you and me in Oregon” Shawn chuckle with his boyish grin and it irritates me even more. “I can’t believe you got into the University of Oregon too! Now I’ll have you all to myself!” Squeaked the blonde. “Well, when the Dean owes your Dad a few favors, it’s easy to mistakenly add an extra application to the acceptance pile.” Shawn nonchalantly states. This little s**t, what the hell does Molly see in him? He is about 5’9, with curly brown hair that he keeps uncombed and looks like he just got out of bed. I can admit he’s got jokes and my little mate has quite the sense of humor, but I don’t find him funny at all. I take a quick picture with my phone of the two while they are embracing. “Got you asshole” I mumble to myself. I’ll have one of my undercover pack members forward the photo to Molly’s best friend Jill tomorrow. I was able to hire two young pack members to go in disguised as students at Molly’s school. I didn’t know how else to infiltrate the school so we could keep an eye on my mate, I had to make sure that the two pack members also didn’t mention their mission to anyone else so we could keep Molly’s identity as my Luna a secret. I look back at the photo I took with my phone, I guarantee when Jill receives this tomorrow, she will send it to Molly immediately. As much as I want to send it tonight, I don’t want to end my Molly’s good night with bad news.
