Chapter 21

1119 Words
Drew’s POV I sit back in the car and imagine pack life finally getting back to normal. Ever since the Alpha took his leave a couple of years ago, it’s been hard. Travis and I have had to pick up the slack with him gone. Which I would do anything for him, not because he’s just my Alpha, but also my best friend. Travis and I still haven’t found our mates, but it makes it extremely hard to search for them when you are working twice as much. Alpha will finally be able to return now that his Luna knows what’s going on. The pack will be much stronger now that it’s complete with a Luna and, hopefully, a future heir to come. I take a deep breath and reached for my phone so I could give Travis an update on this early morning attack on the Luna. The wolves were not rouge because rouge usually give off a stink, these wolves that attacked the Luna had a smell like they belonged to another pack, but I did not recognize it. I dialed Travis’s number and he picked up after the first ring, “Beta Travis speaking”. I roll my eyes because even when he knows I’m the one calling, he acts all formal and professional. “Hey, it’s me. I just needed to update you on what’s going on and what happened last night with the Alpha”. I began my report. I give Travis the run down and he begins to get irritated because I didn’t call him right after the attack. “Did you dispose of the bodies?” Travis asks. I try to keep my cool, “this isn’t my first Rodeo Travis. I’ve helped the cleanup crews plenty of times for situations like this.” I grumble. I hear a deep sigh from Travis and silence. “So, the Alpha and Luna will finally be returning...Thank god, I am so over this s**t. I’ve barely been laid these last two years because I’m stuck working in this f*****g office all the time” Travis wines. I smile cause we both are on the same page and dying to get our d***s wet. I know I shouldn’t be sleeping around and that I should be looking for my mate. But I’m 26 now, and a male wolf of my status has to get released somewhere, or else we wolves can get a bit temperamental. “How did the Luna react to seeing her long time Therapy dog turn into a 6’2 grown man?” Travis asks with a chuckle. “Surprisingly she wasn’t fazed by it much, I don’t know what they did after I left, but she seemed to walk straight into his arms as if she had known who he was this whole time. I’m telling you the mate bond is strong.” I stop talking and can’t help but feel upset now. I love my Alpha and I’m very happy for him. But I’m so envious that he has finally found his true mate. “I know how you feel bud, our turn will come, you’ll see”. Travis says calmly, although I know he feels just as jealous as I do. Travis clears his throat and put’s on his professional voice again. “I’m glad you called, I too have something to report back about. It seems our Mr. Mike Mello has another name. Mike Ward was his name before he married Molly’s mom, who is Kelly Mello. He took her last name when they married.” Travis continues talking faster and faster. Usually, when he is in a case like this, he can get a bit over the top and literally have someone’s whole life story written down in a day. Travis continues to spew words and I try to keep up “I looked up Mike Ward in the data base and even contacted a friend from the FBI to find something about him. And guess what? He is not in the system. So, I decided to contact the Alpha committee and ask for the registered pack lists and the names of the listed members of each pack and…” I immediately stopped Travis from talking. “Wait, wait, wait...you think that Mike could be a wolf? But we were inside their home. I personally stalked that family for almost eight months. I did not smell a wolf from any one of the family members” I growled. I’m feeling annoyed now because that is something my wolf and I should not have missed. Even a wolf pup could smell out another wolf. Travis interrupts my thoughts and explains to me how I could have missed that. “Drew, I don’t know how. But he must have somehow locked his wolf away. I can only assume he has worked with a witch to hide his wolf and aura. Because from what I just read in another file, the family name Ward, comes from a long line of strong Alphas. But it was rumored they were all killed off almost thirty years ago in an attack by a rouge clan.” Travis mentions the Rouge Clans and I can’t help but feel uneasy. Rouge clans are large groups of wolves who’ve gone rouge and think they can just form their own packs. By law, when a pack is formed, it must be reported to the Alpha committee so they can be logged and tracked, this helps the alpha committee makes sure every pack is updated on new laws and check in to make sure wolves are being treated fairly and that lower ranked wolves aren’t being abused. Usually rouge clans can be ruthless and most low ranked wolves don’t live long in a rouge clan. Most rouge clans have wolves that were banished from other packs, some are even criminals or murderers who escaped pack laws and never were caught. Before I can ask any more about the Rouge attack, a car screeches up next to mine. I turn my head In time to see the driver already jumping out of the car looking panicked, “Oh, s**t it’s the devil himself” I say into the phone. “Who!” yells back Travis, “it’s Mike Ward, he just pulled up and is bolting towards Molly’s apartment! s**t, what should I do” I gasped even louder into the phone. “s**t. Mind-link the Alpha. It's time for poor Wyatt to meet his future father in-law.” Travis sighs. “Welp…good luck! Call me when it's over with!” Travis says and hangs up the phone before I can protest. Great, a f*****g family reunion.
