Chapter 19

Molly’s POV My Dog just turned into a wolf. It only took a few seconds too. One minute, he was my little husky therapy dog and then woosh, he became the size of a small horse. And it’s not just any wolf, it’s the wolf who saved me the night Shawn attempted to r**e me. I should feel scared for my life. I just witnessed s**t you would see in a horror movie. But he has saved me many times now. Benson has been by my side for over two years, and never would I have believed he was a wolf this whole time. In fact, he always came off more human than he did dog-like….shit, could he be a human also? Is he a werewolf? Have I been living with a guy these last couple years and not even freaking know? I have so many questions and the struggle to keep calm is making me feel sick and anxious. I want to hold my Benson to help me feel better, but now I don’t know how to act around him. The walk home was uncomfortable and now I must pack some of my stuff up and move because it’s not safe for me here. As soon as Drew gave the all clear, I rushed to my room and began filling my duffel bag with clothes and essentials that should last me a week. Then I finished up with a box of all my books and school supplies I would need. My cell phone is sitting where I left it next to the bed. Should I call someone? Should I call my mom and dad and tell them I love them? It’s 3:30 in the morning right now and everyone would still be sleeping. I decided to send my dad a text message instead. “Hey dad, just wanted to say I miss you and mom. Hope all is well, and hope you can give me a call tomorrow?” I went to put my phone in the box but changed my mind and sent my dad one more text message. “What’s a Luna?”. Mike Mello’s POV I wake up around two in the morning feeling completely coherent and alert. Something is not right. I remember feeling this way the night we got the call about Molly being in the hospital. And every night she had her night terrors, I would wake up like this right before she’d be screaming in her bed. I look at my phone to see if anyone had texted me. I debated whether to text my daughter, knowing she would be asleep, I decide to hold off. Instead, I walk downstairs and make a cup of decaf coffee. As I wait next to the coffee maker, I begin looking at all the photos of my children on the fridge. Molly turned 21 yesterday, and I hope her friends were able to break her out of her shell and get her to have some fun. Zach will be celebrating his twentieth birthday in a few months. He has been quite busy at Oregon State. I really wish he had stayed closer to home, but he insisted that the greenery and weather in Oregon is where he wanted to be. I grab my coffee that is now done and walk down the hallway to check on Jacey. I peek into her room and see she is fast asleep, mouth open and drooling just as bad as her sister did at her age. My baby is going to be thirteen years old in a few weeks. I’m going to need to call Becky and have her prepare a curse for her; just as I have for my two other children and I. I look at the small glass crafts that Becky had made for me and the kids. Each one got theirs on their thirteenth birthday, and Jacey was to get hers next. I keep the glass artifacts up high so no one can reach them and risk having them dropped. They were made to be fragile in case of emergencies. But hopefully, we will never have a time come where we will need to break them. I finish my coffee and put the mug in the sink. I climb the stairs and get back to bed next to my beautiful wife. The Goddess may have screwed up on my mate bond, but I was still able to find love afterwards. I kissed my wife on the cheek and turn back over on my right side towards my nightstand. My phone is blinking, letting me know I have a text message. I grab the phone and see that Molly had sent me two text messages. The first one read “Hey dad, just wanted to say I miss you and mom. Hope all is well, and hope you can give me a call tomorrow?” I miss my family altogether. I was just about to text her back but decided to read the second message before responding. The second message has me sitting up now and not sure how to respond, “What’s a Luna?”. Wyatts POV All three of us enter my office apartment. I mind link Drew to take Molly’s things in the bedroom. She can take the bed while we sleep on the couches. As Drew disappears, Molly begins to walk around the apartment. I have no photos on the walls, nothing that would give away who lives here. Unless she knew what my password to my desk top is, she wouldn’t find much. Molly retreats back to the living room and tries to make herself comfortable on the couch. She avoids looking in my direction, making me feel like I’ve failed her and that she will have a hard time trusting me again. Drew returns and breaks the silence. “Alrighty, where do we start? Molly, what questions do you have?” Molly is surprised that Mike is allowing her to start first and hesitates a moment. “Is Benson a werewolf?” Molly says hurriedly. “Wow, she figured that out fast.” My wolf says to me. Molly still doesn’t look in my direction and I mind link Drew to go ahead and be honest with her. Drew takes a sigh of relief, “Yes Luna, he is a werewolf”. Molly nods and asks the next question, “Why has he been protecting me?”. Molly’s face is emotionless, she is trying to stay strong right now and I can’t help but be proud of her. “You are his mate, the moment he met you, he never stopped trying to protect you”. Drew smiles and waits patiently for the next question. Molly’s eyebrows furrow and she finally looks my way, “And may I ask who he is?” Molly asks. Drew hesitates to answer and looks back at me, “It’s now or never Alpha”, my Gamma mind links me. It’s my turn now and I can’t believe how nervous I am. I take a deep breath, “wish me luck Benson.” I say, and begin to change to my human counterpart. “Don’t f**k this up for us” Benson orders back. After all my bones have cracked into place and I have no fur, I realize how freezing it is in my apartment and how I forgot that I’m completely naked right now. I look at my mate and see she has turned completely red in the face and can’t seem to stop staring at me below the waste. I clear my throat, which catches her attention and she looks at my face, looking completely guilty for staring at my c**k. I grab the blanket that’s folded over the couch and wrap it around myself to hide my bareness. “It’s a bit chilly in here, so things look a bit different down there right now”, I felt I had to make that clear in case she was disappointed with my proportions. Drew chuckles at my comment, Benson growls at him and shuts him right up. I return my focus to Molly, who is now standing and walking towards me. As soon as she is about a foot away, she throws her arms around my waist and holds me. She began to shake and I could hear her start crying. I wrapped my arms around her and lay my head on top of hers. I breathe the scent of her hair in to make sure I’m not imagining all this. I finally have my mate in my arms, and it feels amazing. She continues to cry and I see that Drew is standing in the corner still unsure of what to do. “Go keep watch outside from your car. Mind link me if you see anything suspicious.” I use any excuse I can, to get time alone with my mate. Drew nods and heads out the door. I give Molly a couple of extra minutes to continue crying into my chest and finally decide she needs to rest. “Let’s get you to bed little mate”, I whispered in her ear. I pick her up and cradle her in my arms, still pulling her close so she doesn’t have to face me yet. I pulled the covers on my bed back and laid her down. I go to the bathroom and find a fresh pair of sweats and a white undershirt. As I returned from the attached bathroom, I tucked the blankets in around Molly and kissed the top of her head lightly, “goodnight little mate” I whisper once more. As I head out the door to sleep on the couch, I hear molly wrestling with the sheets, “Wait, I…I don’t…I can’t sleep without you…I mean…I can’t sleep without Benson.” Molly says softly. I smile and return to the room. I sit at the end of the bed, “would you protest if I stayed like this instead of changing back to Benson?” Molly looks away at first and back at me, “as long as there is no funny business, I think that will work” she whispers back. I lift her chin to look at me, “Molly, I will do anything for you, and I will never ask or force you to do something you do not want”. Molly smiles and leans in towards my chest again. I readjust our bodies, so my arm lays under her pillow and my other arm lays across her back. Instantly Molly fell asleep, and I couldn’t stop admiring how brave our little Luna was tonight.
