Chapter 11

Travis’s POV “I can’t do this anymore!” I screamed to myself. Alpha has been gone two years now. I’m surprised he has been able to last this long in a dog form. Fortunately for us, Molly was able to attend classes without him. So, while she is in school, Alpha can go to another apartment we have set up for him as an office and get things done from there. I look at the clock now and know Molly has just started class and that the Alpha should be calling me any moment to check in. Ring, ring, speak of the devil, my wolf comments. I don’t even look at the caller ID, know full well who is calling me. “Good afternoon, Alpha, how’s the doghouse going?” My favorite joke I crack at the beginning of every phone call. I heard Alpha give an unimpressed sigh. “How’s the pack, any news to report?” Alpha is getting straight to business. “Nothing here boss, I do have some documents I’m going to fax over though to sign, we need your signature to confirm the land you recently purchased are being used for the packs reservation.” The neighboring town wants to make sure you aren’t using that land to build on and that it will be kept as its current habitat”. I listened to him process what I’ve mentioned, “send it now, I don’t have a lot of time left. Molly is getting out of class early so she can go celebrate her 21st birthday with a bunch of her friends and they are all supposedly pregaming at her apartment”. I hear Alpha groan in annoyance. He hates sharing Molly with anyone, especially the girlfriends she has made. The girlfriends always try to get Molly out to meet new people, meaning trying to hook her up with the college guys from school. “Well Alpha, I wish you luck on this endeavor and look forward to our call tomorrow.” “Thank you, Travis, talk to you soon”. I hear the phone disconnect and hang up as well. I sat back in my chair and think about the mate I haven’t found yet. “Damn, I need a vacation”. Wyatts POV As I get off the phone with my Beta, I make another call before I need to leave the office and head back to Molly’s apartment. I order her a bouquet of sunflowers and babies' breath like I have done every birthday. I usually don’t include any initials on the card because I don’t want to freak her out and think she has a stalker. She has finally recovered from most of the trauma of that night with Shawn and has had no nightmares since I’ve been with her. Although I have been fortunate to have her to myself every day, it’s been a struggle not to change to my human form and hold her in my arms. And don’t get me started on this damn collar. If Benson didn’t get to stretch his original-sized body out at least once a month, I’m sure we would have destroyed this cursed crafted charm a long time ago. “Well Benson, you ready?” Benson stirs around in my head and groans. “you know we have to return to an apartment that’s going to be full of annoying girls right?” Benson mumbles back. I chuckle, knowing full well how much Benson can’t stand being petted and handed off treats like an actual pet. Molly is the only one who treats us with respect. She learned very quickly that the leash was a no go for us, absolutely never going to the dog park again, and that if she thinks we need to go to see the veterinary, then to call Travis to take us. All those rules obviously happened after some horribly awkward experiences. I reached across the desk and placed the magic collar back on. As Benson begins to take form, it only takes us a few seconds to take the shape of Benson, the therapy dog. The apartment door has a little doggy door that only opens up for me thanks to the microchip in my collar. As Benson trots back to the apartment, we hear the army of friends Molly has made approaching behind us. I quickly slip inside Molly’s apartment door, which has a doggy door as well, thanks to Travis. Molly’s best friend that she has made here at college, Allie, walks in using the spare key Molly gave her. Allie has her arms full of multiple bottles of champagne and a gift bag. While the other girls carry some gift bags and beverages as well. “They are going to get our little mate hammered tonight”, Benson growls annoyed. “Benson, this is what most college students do when celebrating their twenty-first birthdays. She will be okay. I say, trying to comfort Benson without sounding concerned myself. As the girls begin decorating the house for Molly, the flowers I had ordered arrive and Allie places them on the center of the dining room table. “Wow, Molly will, love these!” Allie comments. Allie peaks at the card to see who they are from. “hm, no name”. Another one of Molly’s friends responds, “you know Molly isn’t dating right now, it’s probably just from her parents”. I sigh in relief, Benson and I agreed we would try not to interfere with Molly’s love life if she chose to date, but fortunately for us, she had chosen to avoid dating while attending school. “Well, speaking of boys, my brother will be in town tonight and I was actually hoping to introduce him to Molly.” Allie excitedly announces to the rest of the girls. “Not if I can help it” Benson mutters. I clench my teeth and try to take some deep breaths. Before responding to Benson. “We cannot interfere, Benson, she will play it safe. Our mate is overly cautious when it comes to boys. Besides, she’s too focused on school to be distracted by some guy”. Moments later, I smell the wonderful fragrance of lavender and honey, and my beautiful mate comes through the door, looking completely shocked by the surprise party her friends had put together for her. Molly has grown a little more in all the right places since the very first time I met her. Although you would never know it because of the loose clothes and baggy sweaters she likes to wear. “You guys, thank you so much! This is so lovely!” Molly says excitedly. Molly’s going around hugging all her friends one at a time now. “Molly, we are going to party hard tonight, so we need to get you out of that jumpsuit and looking fabulous right now!” As Allie finishes speaking, she begins to pull out what looks like a cosmetic bag and unfolding a small Satin scarf. As the scarf unravels, I realize it’s actually a f*****g tiny black dress. No, no, no, no, no! Benson starts grinding his teeth. She can’t go out in that rag. She will practically be walking around naked in that thing. I can’t help but chuckle, “Benson, I’m sure she will find something else to wear, you know our little mate likes to dress a little more reserve-“ , but before I could finish reminding Benson how innocent our little mate is, Molly reaches over and grabs an already opened bottle of champagne and takes a couple chugs, as she pulls the bottle away and gasps for air she surprises both Benson and I with her big grin and next few words, “Let’s f*****g do this!” our mate proudly announces. My jaw literally drops. Where did that come from? I mean, I’m stoked to finally see this new brave and confident side of Molly, but damn. As soon as I recovered from my shock, I began to game plan my next move, “Alright Benson, I think it’s time for me to suit up”. I chuckled internally.
