I really can't remember the day or date or time it happened, all I remember was that I was surrounded by people and we were just praying and singing then I was overwhelmed with a feeling I could not explain and no there was no bright shining light or angels singing and blowing trumpets; it was just me and the overwhelming feeling. I knew something was happening to me. The feeling was calming, reassuring and most of all peaceful and my dear friends, that was the day I gave my life to Christ. It was a good day to begin a new phase of life; I was already finding my previous life boring and so plain simple, nothing serious was happening to me. Every day came and went by and nothing happened. Ever. How I came about giving my life to Christ? Well truthfully, it happened by chance but now I'm a Christian, the proper term to say is I was led by the HolySpirit. All I can remember about that day was that it was a sport day in my school; a boarding school to be precise. It was a compulsory event and students who did not attend where punished by power-craving seniors who didn't have anything better to pass their time with but to hang around in cliques and talk about school boys who had no clue how their lives will look like outside the four walls of that great citadel and most important of all to prey on the weakness and powerlessness of we the juniors; basically that's how they lived their lives in the hostel, back to the matter at hand, dressed in my blue bwari house sport wear, I raced out of the hostel gate heading to the fields. Normally before getting to the fields, we pass beside the kitchen, then the chapel before we get to the classroom blocks then our big field. I had just passed beside the kitchen and was on my way to pass the chapel but stopped when I heard the corper that was transferred to our school, corper Tayo preaching about something that had to do with the Cross of Jesus and He dieing for our sins, I wouldn't say I was moved by it, I just wanted to see what it was about not that I had any plan to stay long till the end. Lo and behold, I didn't know it was the beginning of something new in my life, a good thing. I have already given my life to Christ but I didn't know I just began an adventure of a lifetime.
