Outside the door of the office, just down the hall, Chase and Tia lean tensely against the wall. At the sight of me, they both seem to breathe a sigh of relief. "Are you okay? What did Dallas want?" I can tell Chase is attempting to veil the distress in his voice, but it’s not working, and Tia echoes his sentiments. "Alpha Dixon isn't upset with you...or us, right?" I shake my head at both of them. "No, nothing like that. Everything is fine. He just wanted my opinion on telling my mom. And, uh, I guess he'd like me to stay close to Chase. For protection, obviously." I watch Chase's expression soften slightly, and the tension in his shoulders ease. Tia nods ecstatically. "I agree with that. You can't be alone, not at least until we have this whole thing sorted out." I roll my eyes
