Kane stood beside the bar, his hand instinctively settling on the holster at his waist. "Should we open fire, Boss?" the head bodyguard asked through the radio outside. Kane's fingers slowly loosened around the grip. "Lower your weapons," he ordered over the radio. Yet he didn't approach the control panel or unlock the door. He was still clinging to the last shred of control he had. I didn't walk toward the door. Instead, I turned and crossed the living room to the display shelf.
