Stakeouts are the worst, but I had offered to so that one of my juniors can get back home to his pregnant wife. Okay, that’s the partial truth. I had offered to fill in for him because this had seemed like a better option than accidentally running into Maeve at Bob’s. No, that I am assuming she’s going to be there tonight, but I’d rather not risk it at all. Safe than sorry, really, especially when it comes to her given our history of meeting at the most random times in a place we had last expected each other. Also, because if I even run into her, I don’t know what I’ll tell her. Do we pretend like the last conversation we had never happened?
