His breath fanned against my temple, rough and uneven, as though he were struggling to contain himself. "Ryder?" I gasped, my voice hesitant. His head tilted slightly, and I froze. His eyes glowed a bright, molten gold—the very same shade I had seen in Malik's eyes when he lost control. But how was this possible when he was still in human form? And with the talisman around his neck? "Mine," he growled, baring his teeth like a crazed dog. He tightened his hold, his fingers digging into my shoulder. My heart stuttered as he lowered his head, his mouth and tongue brushing against my neck. "Ryder, stop!"
