Episode 9: Aurora's radical decision

1378 Words
Amora's POV: Stephen invited me to dinner that same day he collected my phone number. We were to meet at Honey Moon, an exotic, luxurious restaurant, popular for the wealthy and also owned by the Eagle family. Sometimes, I do wonder how the Eagle family managed to own so much. It seems like they owned more than ¾ of Canada. Hmmm During dinner, Stephen was so animated and happy. I didn't realise that my sister and I had such an effect on him. As he talked and talked and made me laugh, I sincerely regretted my conservative nature. I wish I could be as animated and lively as he was and not as unnecessarily conscious and sort of laid back as I was. I realised during this dinner, how much Stephen and sister suited each other. Aurora was as lively, animated, and even crazier than Stephen was. “I wanted to call Aurora earlier today. But I decided against that. Let me ask you first if I should,” Stephen said as he sipped from his shiny glass cup filled with Pure Haven wine. “Yes Stephen. You did the right thing. Don't call her yet. Let me speak with her first and let her know. So she wouldn't be so surprised at your call.” “Ok.” Amora's POV: When I got home from dinner, I was fighting a battle within me. A part of me didn't want Aurora and Stephen to talk and I didn't know why. And I knew very well that Aurora would never forgive me if she found out that I stopped her from connecting again with Stephen. I had to ask myself the bitter question, “Amora, do you have feelings for Stephen?” “Of course not,” I answered. “Then tell your sister.” This decided it for me and I went ahead to call her. The time was 9:30 pm. “Aurrie, good evening.” “Good evening sis. Uhhhh… Sorry, I'm yawning. I'm just tired.” “Ahh, you must have exerted yourself so much today. How are you?” “I'm fine sis. I finished a large order today. And when I mean large, 2000 pieces of vanilla cupcake.” “Wow sis. That's huge. Congratulations.” “Thank you. How are you and work?” “I'm fine. Work is normal. Still exciting. Aurrie, look, I have something to tell you. But don't scream ok?” “Hmmm if it's worth screaming about, then I will.” “Aurora please be serious.” “Ok ok.” “I saw Stephen today. We talked, we exchanged numbers. He asked of you, I even gave him your number. And we went for dinner. He wants to call you.” There was silence on the other end. “Aurrie, are you still there?” “Yes, yes. Look Ammie, are you being serious? Stephen as in Stephen Eagle?!!” “Yes” “Omg!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!” “And she screams. This girl! Easy oo, before you wake everyone up.” Aurora immediately calmed down and started talking in funny whispers. “He asked of me? My Stephen baby! Awwwn” “Your baby? Don't get ideas Aurrie,” I said laughing. “So he can go ahead and call you?” “Yes. Of course. Why not? In fact, if not for pride's sake, I would have called him first. Who am I kidding? Someone I think about every day.” “This girl!” “Leave me oo. I have found my man, go and find yours!” “Lord have mercy!” I said laughing. Aurora's POV: He called in the afternoon of the next day. I was in my confectionery store. When his call came in, my heart skipped and I smiled widely. I legit jumped up and down, did a quick dance, adjusted my hair, and then picked up the call. I knew it was his call because Amora had sent his number to me and I saved it. Thank God my staff were all out, lest they would have seen me disgracing myself. “Hello Aurora. Good day. It's Stephen. Stephen Eagle.” “Wrong number.” “Huh?” Stephen said, apparently confused. I started laughing. “I got you!!! Stephen!!!!! Oh my God! How have you been?” “I've been so good thank you. You haven't changed at all. I love that.” “Me, change? Never.” “I got your number from your sister yesterday. We met at a…” “Don't bother recounting the details. My sister has told me already. So you just went back to Canada and forgot me. Forgot us. Is that right Stephen?” “My bad. I'm sorry. Trust me, I can't even explain why. But I felt so happy seeing your sister yesterday. It felt so good to reconnect with you both. So how have you been? And your business?” “I'm fine Stephen. I'm okay. And my business is doing good. And I don't just say that for saying sake. I'm really going higher and packing more clients. Yesterday, I just completed an order for 2,000 vanilla cupcakes. God has been good.” “Wow, that massive Aurora. Massive. Well, I'm not surprised. You are good at what you do. You served me your cake remember?” “Yes, I do. By the way, Stephen, I'm still open to the business of marrying you. That prospect has a lot of potential you know?” He laughed again. Harder this time. “Aurora!!!” “What baby?!” “Baby? You haven't changed at all. Still funny as hell.” “I know right.” There was a small pause and I was anticipating his next words. “I missed you. I just realized how much I missed you Aurora.” I felt like honey and sugar were being poured into my heart. That very sweet love feeling you get in your chest that can even make you c*m. I loved Stephen. I know I did. And this reconnection must be nature's way of bringing us together. And so days went by with Stephen and I talking daily. I practically knew his daily schedule as he always shared it with me, letting me know when he would be free for us to talk. I enjoyed every conversation with him, every word he said. Some nights I touched myself while listening to the calls that I recorded. I wanted him. I yearned for him. So, when I woke up one morning to dating rumours of Stephen and some random daughter of a very wealthy family, I was so pissed by this news. Will Smith level pissed. I made up an excuse and didn't go to the store that day. I didn't want to transfer aggression to my staff. I sent a text to Stephen asking him to explain the rumours. I made sure not to sound angry in the voice note, because exactly what right do I have to be pissed with him? We are not dating. Well, Stephen replied to my voice note later that day. He replied during the same time we usually have our calls and chats and that warmed my heart. According to him, the rumours weren't true. “Evelyn and I are only working on a business project together. I learned that she loved hiking so I went hiking with her a few times. And trust the paparazzi to exaggerate. That's all,” he said. Well, as much as I was relieved to hear this from Stephen. I wasn't comforted. Who am I kidding? Stephen is a catch, the most eligible bachelor in Canada if I should say so. Women would be throwing themselves at him. Plus, sooner or later, he will settle down with someone, and if I wanted to be that someone, I needed to act fast. It didn't help matters that there was a me, there in Canada, my twin sister, who as of now had become close friends with Stephen. No, I needed to act. I have to claim my man. I need to mark my territory. And so I made the radical decision, TO RELOCATE TO CANADA!
