Dorian’s Point of View “Good evening, Alpha Dorian,” Katherine greeted in a soft and firm voice . She stood in the grand hall, waiting for me. Even though the light from the chandeliers cast a warm glow on her face, her expression was serious, as always. I nodded at her as I walked in, my mind still lingering on the conversation we had about Aria. “Katherine,” I said, pausing in front of her. “Have you learned everything you need to know about Aria?” Katherine’s eyes softened, and she stepped closer to me. “Yes, Alpha Dorian. I have.” I waited for her to continue. “Aria is a powerful wolf. More powerful than you know.” She said, her voice soft but firm. I raised my brow. “But she doesn’t act like it,” I said, the confusion clear in my tone. Katherine’s lips tremble, almost as if she was holding back something she knew I wouldn’t want to hear. “Her power is hidden. Her mother sealed it away, knowing that it would be too dangerous for her to know about it. Too dangerous for anyone to know about it. But it’s there. And with you, Dorian, it can be unlocked.” I froze for a moment, my mind racing. “Aria?” I whispered. “And you think she can awaken her powers now because she’s with me?” Katherine nodded. “Yes. That’s the only way. Her mother knew that, too. That’s why she kept it from Aria. But now... she’s with you, Dorian. The bond between mates is powerful. If she can access her abilities now, it will be of great help to you. But it won’t be easy. It will take time. And it will be painful.” I could feel a wave of unease wash over me. The idea of Aria experiencing more pain, more trauma, was something I couldn’t bear. I wanted to protect her from everything, from herself, from the world. “I don’t know if I can do it,” I said softly, more to myself than to Katherine. “You can,” she said, her voice almost a whisper. “But you’re the only one who can help her awaken it. No one else can.” Before I could respond, the door to the hall swung open, and the head guard, Mason, stepped inside. He looked at me, his expression serious. “My Lord,” Mason said, bowing his head. “Your brother, Kael, is back.” A rush of excitement flooded through me. Kael. My twin brother. After all these years of being apart, I couldn’t wait to see him again. We had been separated for too long, and though our bond was deep, there had always been a distance between us, one that neither of us fully understood. “Thank the gods,” I muttered under my breath. I turned back to Katherine. “We’ll continue this later,” I said, giving her a polite but dismissive nod. “I have to go.” Katherine didn’t seem bothered. She simply gave me a small smile and nodded. “Of course. Take care of yourself, My Lord.” I didn’t say anything more as I rushed out of the hall and down the stairs, my feet barely touching the ground. The closer I got to the entrance, the more my heart raced. I could already hear the familiar sound of Kael’s laugh echoing through the air. When I reached the front of the pack house, I saw my brother. Kael. He stood there with his broad shoulders and his face lit up with that mischievous smile I knew all too well. He looked just like me, but there was something about his energy that was the complete opposite of mine. Where I was reserved, calm, and calculating, Kael was wild, unpredictable, and always looking for trouble. Without thinking, I closed the distance between us and pulled him into a tight hug. I didn’t care who saw it. The bond we shared as twins was deeper than anything else. “How much I’ve missed you, you damn fool,” I laughed, slapping him on the back. Kael chuckled and pulled away, ruffling my hair. “I’ve missed you too, brother,” he said, his voice full of warmth. “It’s been too long.” He looked around at the group of maids who had traveled with him, directing them to the nearby quarters. “Go ahead and settle in,” he told them. “I’ll catch up with you later.” I turned back to him as he approached. “It’s good to have you back.” “Good to be back,” he replied, his smile never fading. “Now, tell me, how’s everything going around here? Any trouble? Before I could answer, I heard a familiar voice calling out my name. A voice that made me freeze instantly. “Dorian!” I turned around to see her. It was Lucia. She was walking toward me with that unmistakable grace of hers. Lucia had been with us for as long as I could remember. Her father, the former Beta, had been a close ally to my father before his untimely death. She had been raised in the pack, and though Kael and I had always been close to her, there had always been an undercurrent of tension, especially between her and me. Kael looked at her with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. “Well, well,” he said, a knowing smile crossing his face. “Look who it is.” Lucia rushed toward me, throwing her arms around me in a tight hug. “I’m so glad to see you again,” she said, her voice breathless. I hugged her back, but there was a part of me that couldn’t ignore the strange, almost possessive way she held on to me. I wasn’t sure if it was the fact that she had grown up with us, or if it was something deeper, but it always felt like Lucia wanted more. “I didn’t know you were coming today,” I said, pulling away slightly, though her arms remained loosely around my neck. “Well, I wasn’t planning on it,” Lucia replied. “But I heard Kael was coming back, and I couldn’t wait to see you both.” Her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes, and I could tell she was hiding something. But I didn’t press her. Not yet. There were too many things happening at once. Kael raised an eyebrow. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it, Lucia?” he said, teasingly. Lucia’s smile faltered for just a moment before she quickly recovered, stepping back from me. “Too long, Kael,” she replied in a light tone. “Too long.” As we started walking toward the entrance, a maid appeared from the hallway. She paused as she saw us, clearly unsure whether to approach. “Excuse me, my lord,” the maid said softly, her eyes darting between me and Kael. “Should I serve Lady Aria her lunch now, or should I wait for you to be done?” Kael and Lucia both froze, their expressions shifting from curiosity to confusion. Without missing a beat, they both spoke at the same time. “Aria!” they both asked. “Who is Aria?” Kael asked, his tone casual but with an edge of interest. Lucia’s voice was more hesitant, but her eyes narrowed slightly. “Yes, Dorian. Who is she?” I paused, glancing back at the maid, who looked just as uncertain. I opened my mouth to answer, but the words stuck in my throat. The question was simple, but the answer… was complicated.
