~Rowan~ “Stop!!” “Please, I beg you, leave her alone,” I mumbled incoherently, holding my bedsheet tightly as balls of sweat trickled down my face. “Rowan, I'm here, I'm here, you will be alright” My fiance, Ava, said as she held me tightly before injecting me. I went mute immediately as I continued sleeping. “Arghh,” I muttered, opening my eyes slowly after a while, the rays from the scorching sun hit me as I held my head in pain. “You are awake,” Ava squealed, rushing towards me with gleaming eyes. “Did it happen again?” I asked, staring at her. My eyes glistened as tears welled up in them. “Yes,” she nodded slowly, holding my cheeks as she caressed my face. “You will be fine, I promise, okay?” My name is Rowan Towski and I'm in line as the next alpha of the Crescent shadow park, the biggest and most powerful park in the world. But amidst my immense power, I have a flaw, I barely sleep without having scary nightmares every night. “We need to see the doctor again Rowan,” Ava said, staring into my eyes. Her long hair scattered all over her face. Even though I had no iota of feelings for her, I had no choice but to accept her as my fiance, it was her father's wish afterall. ******** After about an hour later, I was done dressing up and ready to leave. As the second in command and answerable to only the alpha, I had tons of guards at my disposal. “Aww, you look cuter everyday,” Ava said behind me as she wrapped her arms around my waist tightly. “Now is not the time Ava,” I growled, removing her hands from my waist. I barely took three steps before she rushed to the door, shutting it loudly. “What is going on Ro?” She asked, blocking me from going out. “I'm not in the mood for this, I have to meet with a doctor,” I muttered, trying to forcefully open the door but she held my hands. “Why do you treat me like trash? I'm your fiancee for f**k's sake,” she yelled, her voice laced in pain and sorrow as tears welled up in her eyes. “Arghh!!” I groaned, scattering my hair messily. “I can't deal with this right now, please move,” I muttered but she remained adamant. “Look at me Rowan, I love you,” she muttered, trying to touch my face but I moved back. “Don't do that,” I snapped, staring at her with a blank expression. “Is it because you hate my father? Huh?,” she shouted with a teary face. “Don't say that,” I snapped, clenching my jaw. Suddenly we heard a knock on the door, interrupting us. “Who the hell is that,” I roared, my eyes blazing with anger. “My lord, the alpha sent for you,” the guard said. “Tell him I will be there, now buzz off,” I barked as I walked out. ******* “Your vitals are in good shape,” the doctor said as he glanced through a piece of paper on his table. “But I'm afraid there is a problem.” “What is it?” I asked, my gaze fixed on him. “The drugs I gave you for your amnesia are not working,” he said, staring at me keenly. “So in essence?” I asked. “I'm sorry but you might have to live with all the nightmares,” he replied sadly, avoiding my gaze. “Thank you,” I replied, standing up as I walked out. My shoulders slumped as I walked, tears welled up in my eyes but I shoved it back immediately. ‘Warriors don't cry,’ I muttered underneath my breath. “Drive back to the castle,” I roared to one of my men immediately as I came out. I hopped to the back seat of the car as I fished out my phone from my pocket. A call came in immediately, the caller ID indicating, “Agent.” “Any news?” I asked, my voice barely audible. “ Not yet boss but we are making headway,” he replied. “Make it snappy,” I said as I hung up. ****** The journey back to the castle was slow and steady. The streets of Chicago were quiet and the smell of damp air filled the car. “We are here boss,” my driver said as soon as we entered the castle, the Alpha's castle. “Mhmm,” I muttered, barely audible as I looked out through the window. The Alpha's castle was among the biggest buildings in Chicago and was covered in plain gold coatings. Boss Cizar, as I normally call him, was the Alpha of my park, the Crescent shadow park. He was the most ruthless and cunning werewolf I ever knew. He practically raised me as his own son after I lost my parents and eventually gave me his only daughter, Ava, as my fiance. I slowly got down from the car, clenching my fist as I walked into the building. Cizar’s men were littered all over the building with their scary masks covering their hideous faces. “Wait here, he will be here in a minute,” a guard said as I reached his study room. I sat down quietly, staring at the painting in front of me. It was a painting of a blonde woman carrying a little child. “Aha, there you are,” a voice said behind me, it was Cizar's. “Morning boss,” I quickly said, prostrating before him as he tapped me on the shoulder. He was wearing his usual red robe with a blunt in-between his fingers. His burnt lips and thick scar on his face gave him this eerie and evil look. “Sit,” he said, his voice cold and urgent. I immediately sat but not without showing the disgust etched on my face. He stared at me for a while before he cleared his throat. “Uhmm, I thought about what you said the last time and I have decided,” he said, staring at me keenly as he spoke. “Can I leave the gang now?” I asked, smiling lightly as I leaned closer. Leaving Cizar's gang had always been my dream and I had sent my resignation letter earlier, hoping that he would approve it. “Not too fast boy, you are my most valuable asset, I can't just let you go like that,” he said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. “What do you want then?” I asked, a slight frown etched on my face. “Take this, your last job and it's tonight,” he replied, throwing a piece of paper towards me. “Don't fail me boy, I trust you,” he added before going upstairs. ******** “There they are boss,” one of my men said, pointing at an elderly woman with a young lady. The woman seemed to recognize us as she began running immediately she saw us. “Go after them,” I shouted, bringing out my rifle. We engaged in a hot pursuit but they were faster. “Drive b***h,” I shouted at my driver as he increased his speed. After about ten minutes, we were finally closing in on them but something strange happened. Another car ran into them, sending their car flying into the air. “Oh f**k!” I growled angrily as I ran out, chasing after their car as it tumbled over. As I approached the car, I could see a shadowy figure crawling out from the car, it was an elderly woman. “Huh!” She froze as her eyes widened immediately she saw me. “Let her go please, kill me instead,” she pleaded, tears trickling down her face. Her words struck me and I hesitated for a while but Cizar's words lingered in my head. “I own you.” “I'm sorry,” I whispered slowly as I fired two shots at her. “No!!!” Someone screamed from inside the car before slumping.
