“Bastard!! How could you lose her,” Cizar barked, glaring daggers at me with eyes full of venom. I remained fixed at my spot, a small frown on my face.
“I'm sorry boss,” I muttered with my head bent, holding my tummy with blood all over my hand.
“Sorry? You fool,” He roared as he charged towards me with a dagger. “I could stab you right now,” he muttered, gritting his teeth as he held his dagger close to my tummy.
I remained unfazed, folding my fist as I struggled to remain composed. Cizar was not one to be toyed with, he could kill anyone without batting an eyelid but I cared less.
“We'll find her boss, I promise,” I said, my gaze still fixed on him. His shoulders dropped a little as he stared at me keenly. “You have two days, two f*****g days to find her,” He growled, pointing his dagger at me with bloodshot eyes.
“I won't fail this time, boss,” I said, my voice firm and steady. “Get out,” he roared.
“Pftt, p***y,” I muttered, my voice barely audible as I walked out. “Your end is near.” The choice was clear, find the girl or face Cizar. Either way, I wanted Cizar dead anyway.
As I drove home, the flashbacks of that gruesome night welled up in my head.
Flashback
“No!!” I heard a tiny voice inside the car. “Check who that is,” I commanded one of my men as he rushed in. The car was already on fire and it could blow up anytime.
“It's the girl, boss, she's still alive,” my man said, dragging a petite lady out. She was unconscious and slightly bruised. “We have to take her back,” Osmo, the third in command and my rival said. He quickly collected her as he put her in the back seat.
“I will drive, you guys can use the other car,” I said to him. “What are you up to?” He muttered, glaring at me hesitantly. Being Cizar's right hand man, I was used to the scorn he showed me. He was closer to Cizar than I was and he loved Ava, but I cared less, I was still his boss anyway.
“Give it to me, now!” I yelled, pulling out my gun. “Here,” he said as he handed the key to me. “I'm watching you,” he said before entering his car.
After about ten minutes, they were gone and I was left alone with the strange lady. “What does he want from you,” I muttered, staring at her beautiful face. I had no information about her but if Cizar wants her, then she must be important and I was going to use her to get to him.
After a series of deliberations, my mind was made up. I quickly picked my dagger from my pocket and stabbed myself. “Ouch,” I winced, blood oozing out from my tummy. I took the strange lady to my secret penthouse, far away from Cizar and his men.
Present day
“You are back,” Ava said as she rushed towards me. “Get lost, I need rest,” I muttered. “Wait,” she said, wrapping her arms around me. “I missed you,” she whispered, sobbing silently.
“Maybe I will just have to leave,” I growled as I disengaged from her.
As I turned to leave, I couldn't shake the feeling that Cizar was trailing me, I had to be careful.
My phone suddenly rang, interrupting my thoughts. “Agent,” was showing on the caller ID. “Any news?” I asked as I picked the call. “We found something boss, you might wanna see this,” my agent said over the phone. “I will be there in a minute,” I replied as I hung up.

My tyres made a screeching sound as I arrived at the address my agent sent to me. It was an old construction, situated at the city's outskirts.
Zzzzzzz
My phone buzzed in my pocket immediately I came down from my car. “You can come inside Sir,” my agent said over the phone.
My oaks were sweaty and my heart beat increased with each step I took. “What does he mean by he found something?” I wondered, walking closer to the building.
I had initially hired a secret agent to help me find my parents and the recent information seemed like a glimmer of hope for me.
Even though Cizar told me my parents were dead and he rescued me as a boy, I knew better than to believe him.
As I walked into the building, the lights went off immediately. I stood still, my eyes darting back and forth as I held my rifle firmly. Being one of Cizar's best men, I was always with my rifle.
Suddenly, a faint bulb flickered from the opposite direction, illuminating a figure holding an object.
“Finally,” Osmo said, laughing lightly as he approached me. “Your time is up,” he muttered. Three other masked men appeared from the sides, holding their rifles as they approached me.
“It's over, Rowan , there's no escaping now,” Osmo mocked as he held his gun tightly. I raised my rifle slowly, a small smile on my face as my eyes darted back and forth.
I was greatly outnumbered and not fit to fight in this condition but my mind was made up, I won't go down without a fight. A smile quickly crept on my face as I thought of a way out.
“Don't be a coward , Osmo,” I chuckled, bringing my gun down. “Face me by yourself, man to man,” I added.
He hesitated for a while, his gaze fixed on me, as though he was thinking of what I said. My heart raced in anticipation as I awaited his response. Balls of sweat trickling down my face. I wasn't scared of death but I couldn't die without bringing Cizar down.
“Alright, I will grant your last wish, man to man,” Osmo said, laughing hysterically as he threw his gun down.
I smiled secretly as I went closer, my plan was already in place. The building was still under construction, so it had openings on every side.
With a fierce cry, he charged towards me, holding his dagger firmly in his hand, but I had more tricks up my sleeve. He swiftly flashed his dagger towards me but missed, which made him stagger.
“Now!” I shouted, gritting my teeth as I jumped through a window nearby, shattering the glass.
“Go after him!!” Osmo roared.
“Argh!” I groaned as I landed on a hard surface, grazing my knees and elbow. My body was covered in bruises and cuts and I was already losing blood.
“Ouch,” I winced, removing the pieces of broken glass stuck to my skin. “There he is,” Osmo shouted as he shot at me. “f**k,” I spat out blood from my mouth.
I tried to walk but I couldn't, my legs were badly injured. “Ria,” I muttered, my voice barely audible. ‘I didn't even get the chance to help her get revenge.’
Osmo and his men were close and I was in a pool of my own blood. “It's over,” I muttered, bringing out a picture from my back pocket. But something strange happened.
“Rowan!” I heard someone scream behind me.
