When I try to contact Elara through the pack house the day after the benefit, they tell me that she went away and won’t be back until the day of her mating ceremony.
“Why are you wasting your time on her?” Silas wants to know when I mention it to him.
I still haven’t told him about Elara’s proposal or my intention to crash the ceremony. As much as I trust Silas, leaks happen, and I don’t want word getting back to Caspian before it all goes down. Elara gave me her word, and I believe she’ll follow through on it. Something in those intriguing hazel eyes of hers convinced me that she’s for real, but it never hurts to have some backup, just in case.
“It’s not a waste of time if I say it’s important. Show me what you’ve got on Caspian.”
