About an hour passes before James makes a reappearance in the kitchen, with a freshly shaven face and a towel over his neck and with no shirt. Damn, I made good breakfast but this man was making me drool. His abs were looking wet from the shower he took, and his slick back hair was not making me calm down any faster. By that time, I had already finished cooking, as well, given that there was barely any food in the house to cook.
“Nice spread, babe,” he comments on the food I put on the table.
“Oh yeah, well, why don’t you spread me next?”
As soon as those words came out of my mouth, we both jumped farther away from each other. I did not know I had it in within me to flirt that thirstily.
“Um, no. Just no,” was his only reaction. But I could see his body reacting otherwise in an instance. “Charlotte, if you’re going to be denying us of that thing we’re not supposed to be doing, you are not supposed to seduce me into doing it.”
“I’m not. Dang it, it was a word vomit,” I apologize and distanced myself farther. “That was a weak moment for me, and I will try hard not to give in again.”
He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly, and smirks as he leaves the room. I heaved a sigh as he does. That was so embarrassing, damn. Of everything I could possibly say, why did I say that?
In the middle of my embarrassed realization, I hear knocks on the front door and the humiliation I felt vanished and was replaced with excitement.
“Beatrice! Charles!” I greeted as they waltzed in.
“Dang, this is some good lake house James’ got,” Charles says, mesmerized and looking around.
“Yeah, but that’s not the only surprising and totally squeal-appropriate thing you’re witnessing today,” B announces as James walks back in to the room.
“Well, what is it?” We asked in unison.
Then, the short, blonde and blue-eyed creature I’ve missed for months appears before me.
“Rossalyn?!” I screamed in shock and delight.
She rushes to me for a hug and I do the same. I hadn’t given her one in such a long time.
“Oh, Charlotte, I’ve missed you so much!” She shrieks.
“Well, don’t pretend you haven’t missed me, too,” James interjects, joining in on the hugging.
“Oh, now I want in, too,” Beatrice says hurriedly towards us.
We soaked the affection in for a minute before looking at Charles who stood from a distance.
“Uh no, I’m good. I got plenty of hugs from all of you already,” he remarks.
