Marcus left Ravenmoor that night, taking only Ezra and Detective Sarah Chen with him. They traveled to the Far East first, to a remote monastery hidden high in mountains that few people even knew existed. The cultivators there had been expecting them—Ezra had made contact through secure channels, warning them of the approaching danger.
The third Void Cultivator was a man named Kirin, who had been living in isolation for over fifty years, meditating and trying to find a way to control his power without losing his mind. When he saw Marcus, he immediately understood what the younger man had become.
"You've merged with the Void," Kirin said simply, studying Marcus's black marks with knowing eyes. "Just as Viktor did. How much of yourself have you managed to keep?"
