Chapter 13: Decision

1072 Words
The sun dropped and the moon rose. During all the time that passed, Cresia did not leave the bed and had been thinking deeply. Her mind was filled with a million thoughts, which is why she struggled to make a good decision. A small voice inside her head kept telling her that she should not forget her beliefs; that she must not accept that beast alpha, for he would only bring chaos into her life and being his partner would only mean one thing... that she condones his wrongdoings. But another voice was contradicting the latter, saying that to accept the beast alpha would be the best thing to do in order for her to live on this life... and that he was the only one who could provide for her while she had nothing on her hands. Cresia could only sigh in defeat. She massaged her temples and decided to shut her eyes for a bit. She hadn't even had a nap ever since she talked to the beast last night. She was just about to fall asleep when the sound of a growl made her blink. A whimper escaped her mouth before she shifted from her usual sleeping position, only to see Klaire Jackson, with crossed arms, standing right next to the comfortable bed she was in and giving her a wide-eyed look. "You have to get up and get dressed, ginger head." Cresia sighed as she sat upright. "I haven’t made a decision yet." Klaire arched her brow. "What do you mean you haven’t made a decision? I thought I made myself clear when I told you that you would be thrown away if you didn’t think smart." "I know, but..." she bit her lower lip, wincing a little. "I’m not sure why it sounds entrancing to me to be thrown away rather than to stay here." "Stop romanticizing hardship, will you?" Klaire hissed at her. "You had enough of that back in your pack territory and here you are considering experiencing it all over again?" "Are you telling me I’m not going to experience it from your twin brother’s hands?" Cresia snorted, giving her a mocking smile. "For the record, being here is already a hardship for me. How much more once I become his Luna?" "Don’t you think it’s about time you change your mindset?" Klaire countered. "The only reason why the situation seems hard on you is because you’re fighting it. For once, try to go with the flow and think about how this will benefit you." "Will I really benefit from this?" Cresia could feel the ache inside her chest. She didn’t know what exactly to do at this point. Sure, her desire to live was strong, but was it still counted as living if she married a beast that had done so many bad things to others? Doubt filled her heart all at once. "I’m not going to convince you to do this if I knew this would lead you into getting into trouble. I may be the twin sister of the alpha who you consider a beast, but I am not as bad as you think," Klaire added, which made her heart a bit at ease. Both of them fell silent. While Cresia was still contemplating, Klaire waited for her patiently. After a few minutes, she let out a heavy sigh and finally got off of bed. "Where is the dress that I should wear?" Klaire’s expression brightened, and she offered her a smile. "Take a bath. I will prepare it for you," she said, and then rushed out of the room to get the dress. "I hope I’m not making the biggest mistake of my life..." Cresia murmured before she stepped into the bathroom. After almost an hour of preparing, she was finally ready. Cresia looked at her reflection in the mirror and could only gasp in awe. She was surprised to see a different woman standing in front of her. Her ginger-colored hair, which was braided elegantly, glowed because of the glacier blue dress she was wearing. Her face looked fresh because of the makeup Klaire had put on it, hiding her pale complexion. She was definitely stunning and had transformed into such a noble werewolf in just less than an hour. "You are such a head turner. I’m sure you will steal all the men’s attention from Evelyn," Klaire said proudly as she looked at her with such awe sparkling in her amber eyes. "Who’s Evelyn?" Cresia could not help but ask, and turned to her. "Silas’ arrogant fiancée." She then walked towards her, making her spin around while she looked at her from head to toe. "I bet you’re going to steal the title of the most beautiful werewolf in North America. I can’t wait to see Evelyn’s reaction once she sees you!" "I’m not attending the ball to compete." "I know, but for the fun side, I really love to see how Evelyn will react after all this." Klaire wiggled her eyebrows. "It’s time, Cresia. We have to go." She only nodded in response, turned her gaze to the mirror once last time before Klaire dragged her out of the room. It was already 8 o’clock in the evening when they left the beast’s mansion. They had arrived at a stunning White House for nearly a few minutes. Cresia looked back nervously at Klaire. The ball appeared to have started as she could hear an old man's voice delivering a speech from where they stood. "We’re already late, Klaire," she stated. However, Klaire only smirked delivishly. "No, we are just in time." She then tugged her in front of the main door. "Enter the hall, Cresia. Silas is already waiting for you." When Klaire pushed the door open, Cresia could feel her heart almost stop beating because of the fear engulfing her. She thought of running away, but Klaire pushed her inside, leaving her with no other choice but to walk straight in front of the crowd whose attentions were drawn to her in an instant. The old man on the stage stopped talking, and the next thing she knew, Silas was walking towards her, making her breathless because of how dashing he was in his suit. She blinked for a brief moment, and only came back to reality when Silas spoke. "You came..." Cresia only shrugged and turned her gaze away from him. "I’m in survival mode."
