Looking at how the situation turned into a big mess, Cresia was not feeling any better. Anger clouded her mind, and knowing that there would be a possible match between her and Evelyn was an addition to the frustration she already felt.
She did not expect this whole fiasco when she agreed to accept Silas. For the record, she only agreed thinking that it would make her life a little different—comfortable without any hardship; easier without wounds and bruises—but what happened at the grand ball was an indication that all those things she wished to get were just wishful thinking. In one announcement of the beast Alpha, her life was turned upside down once again.
The plan went south...
Now, his mad fiancée would do anything to win him back, and that was where another problem came into play. Cresia grunted as she envisioned the possible match between her and Evelyn. It was a wolf fight, and she had no freaking wolf who could possibly fight that mad woman. Was it even fair?
As they went back to Silas’ mansion, Cresia glared at him, watching his every moment like a hawk. Silas had not said a word since they left Klaire and Klyde outside the White House. He acted like she was invisible, walking upstairs and not even growling at her or dragging her back to her cage of a room.
"I can’t believe him," Cresia whispered, gritting her teeth as she watched him enter his room and slam the door intentionally. "Now he acts like a child."
Was he not even concerned that Evelyn requested a match? That his fiancée wanted her dead as a punishment for stepping in between them and their supposed engagement? Was he not even bothered that she would be suffering because of his decision?
The thought that Silas had left her hanging and her head aching because of the possible disastrous outcome of their decision enraged Cresia. She fisted her hands, wanted to scream and curse the beast, but could not do it because there was no sense in acting in that manner, anyway. If her "mate" could not man up to resolve the messy situation, then she guessed she had no choice but to wait for her death instead.
Her heart ached as death came into her mind. She did not want her life to lead down that path. She wanted to do so many things, yet what could a wolf-less rogue like her do, anyway? She was powerless, packless, and even the "mate" she thought could help her redeem herself once after all the suffering she experienced had turned his back on her.

‘I’m beginning to believe that you have grown into a loser,’ Ryker growled in Silas's mind.
Silas was not in the mood to argue with his wolf, who did not stop mocking him after what had happened at the grand ball last night. As he walked into his office to work and deal with the documents needed for the pack's bilateral affairs, he could sense the extreme annoyance of his wolf, who did not like to be ignored.
‘You should listen to me. Our mate is no match for Evelyn. She needs help in order for her wolf to get awakened. You better man up and protect her,’ Ryker added, and then snarled at him in his mind.
Protect? Silas could not feel the urge to protect the rogue. It was only Ryker who felt responsible about it because of the mate bond, which he happened not to feel. For Silas, she was nothing but a mere escape plan so he would not have the need to marry the most arrogant she-wolf in North America.
He sat on his swivel chair and tried to go on with his life, not minding his wolf who was acting nuts inside of him.
Silas had not spoken with the rogue ever since they went back home. He did not feel the need to do so, for they would only fight and she would only blame him for what happened. Her irritating voice would only trigger the s**t in him, and if the situation got worse, he might hurt her again.
He held a document, scanning it, but could not comprehend it as his mind was restless. Seconds later, the door of his office opened, and the familiar scent of Evelyn stirred in the air, making him glance up in her direction.
Evelyn looked so expensive in her all-white business dress, yet her expression screamed of fury. Behind her was Klyde, who appeared to have failed in stopping the woman from entering his office when he made it clear to him that he would speak to no one today.
"How dare you sit at your desk after making me look like a laughing stock last night?!" Evelyn shouted at him.
He let out a sigh and dropped the document, stood up, and walked towards the woman.
"Didn’t I make myself clear that I won’t—"
*pak*
His head tilted as Evelyn’s itching palm landed on his cheek before he could finish what he was about to say. Silas clicked his tongue, his palm twitching as he realized what the she-wolf had just done.
He turned to her, eyes smoldering as he clenched his jaw.
"How dare you slap an Alpha?" He growled.
"You have no right to growl at me as you humiliated me, Silas!" Evelyn shouted angrily. Her veins were about to explode as she glared at him. "If you think that I will let this slide because I am just a woman, then you have got it all wrong. I dare to challenge your mate to a match. The Elders approved it, and I will let you see her die as a punishment for what you both did to me. Mark my words, Silas. Your mate is going to die and I’ll throw her flesh in my yard to feed my wolves!" She growled and then walked out of his office.
Silas arched his eyebrow. Evelyn threatened him, as if he would actually be shaken up by her typical tantrums. His gaze went to Klyde, who only looked at him in disappointment.
"Aren’t you afraid of the outcome of what you’ve done? You’re going to lose so many things at this point," Klyde said. "And you put the rogue’s life in the pit of hell."
"Don’t give me that kind of look."
"You better make this right, Silas. You can’t throw these two women away. Save one, and it should be fair."
‘Your Beta is right. Bring our mate to the Highest Priestess. That’s the only option for her to win the match!’ Ryker howled in his mind before it disappeared through the darkness.

For the past few hours after she had woken up, Cresia anxiously waited for Silas to speak with her, but to no avail. The beast Alpha left the house without even glancing her way...
It was not like she wanted him to give her a little bit of his attention. But weren’t they supposed to discuss the possible fix to their situation?
Klaire visited her again, inviting her to join her for lunch in her house. Not wanting to feel frustrated by her own messy situation, Cresia accepted her request. Setting aside her problems, she wondered how Silas’ family were all living separately. Were they just too wealthy, or were they really not close enough to live under the same roof?
"Lisa is a good cook. Go eat," Klaire told her as she served the food on the table. "You need to gain strength. The next few coming days might be so crucial."
"Crucial like I’m just going to wait for my death?"
Klaire furrowed her brows. "Crucial as we are going to train you to fight for the match."
"What’s the sense of it? I don’t want to marry your twin brother, and apparently, he does feel the same."
Cresia did not want to sound like a spoiled brat who felt betrayed or something, but that was how she felt at the moment. Silas left her hanging and wasn’t bothered by her situation. She bet he would not even flinch if Evelyn appeared out of nowhere and attacked her.
Klaire winced as she sat on the chair across from Cresia. She gave her a wide-eyed look, as if she was the craziest woman in the whole universe.
"Are you saying you’ll let Evelyn kill you without a fight?"
Cresia’s forehead creased. "I know, it’s not that entertaining..."
"Have you gone nuts overnight?" Klaire reacted in disbelief. "Do you think it’s worth it to throw yourself to death just because you let your emotions get into you, gingerhead?"
Did Klaire just tell her that she was letting her emotions take over her thinking? She gritted her teeth and turned her gaze away.
"For once I believed you, Klaire. I thought my life would change for the better once I listened to you, but what happened was the other way around. I am just barely surviving, you know."
"Aren’t you afraid of death?" Klaire arched her eyebrow.
"I am afraid. That’s why I have decided that if I have to beg Evelyn to forgive me, I will do so. I will ask her to spare my life and I’ll give Silas back to her."
Cresia could feel her gut twisting after saying her last statement. It made her cringe.
"Why would you beg if there’s an option for you to win the match?" Klaire leaned her arms on the table, and then tilted her head. "Like what I told you the other day, we can go to the Witch Mountain to meet the Highest Priestess. Once she unlocks your wolf, we can train you for a couple of days to win the match."
Cresia winced. She wasn’t sure about liking that idea anymore. What she wanted was a peaceful life without any drama.
"So begging won’t really help?"
Klaire shook her head. "Come on. After what happened at the grand ball last night, there’s no way Evelyn will be able to forgive. Once her pride was tarnished, she sought revenge. Unfortunately, you stomped on her perfect image. That’s why she’s after you now..."
