"Thank you for helping me make photocopies of all of these worksheets," Mr Kim thanked me as he and I stood in the school library by the photocopy machine, hard at work.
We've been doing this for 15 minutes now and it seemed like the worksheets were never ending as he handed me page after page, telling me to make photocopies. When I started complaining of paper cuts he gave me a stapler and told me to begin stapling the worksheets instead.
If I didn't like the man before, I hated him now.
"You didn't really give me much of a choice, Mr Kim," I replied as I stapled another set of worksheets together and he just chuckled lowly, not affected by my snappy attitude.
It was his period right now and he'd given the class instructions to read the first Act of the play and then make notes of the different themes. After that, he called me and told him that I should help him.
If he wasn't my teacher and my father hadn't told me that I can't kill him, he would be six feet underneath this snow.
"The more you're snappy, the more I'll make you work," he replied, sounding amused, "so if I were you I would make sure I behave."
I rolled my eyes, focusing on the worksheets.
It was silent for the most part between us. The only sound that could be heard was from the photocopy machine and Mr Kim didn't seem too used to silence because he kept talking and I was ignoring him. A grown ass man trying to make conversation with a student was just sad.
"Why don't we get to know each other better?" He suggested, leaning against the table in the library and looking at me.
I looked up and met his dark eyes, lifting an eyebrow as he looked nonchalant and unbothered like he didn't have a class to get back to.
"Tell me more about yourself, Natalya," he said as he crossed his arms over his chest and maintained eye contact with me, a smile on his face and his expression friendly.
I shook my head, laughing in my head as I looked back down at the worksheets and carried on doing what I was doing.
"The more you talk, the faster time will go," he reasoned and I sighed, placing my hands on the table and banging the stapler on the table as well as I looked back up at him.
"What do you want to know, Mr Kim?" I snapped as I folded my arms and stared at him.
"Well first of all I'd like to know when that attitude is going to stop."
"Well it's not, not until you stop making me your personal assistant, get off your lazy ass and do what my father's money pays you to do."
His mouth made an 'o' shape, a comical expression before he chuckled, clapping his hands twice and then tilted his head as his eyes gleamed, "is that so? Is that what you think, Natalya?"
I didn't reply as I picked up the stapler again and got back to work, not wanting him to say anything else to me, "well, because of that smart mouth of yours, you're going to detention, with me. Today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next week, the week after next, until you start speaking to me respectfully, Natalya."
"What? Detention?" I spat out, the word disgusting and foreign in my mouth, "you can't do that."
"Uh," he c****d his eyebrow, "I think I just did. I can't wait to see you for an hour, every day, after school," he cackled like an evil child and I grit my teeth as I glared at him and he stood from the table, talking to himself about how hilarious he was.
I looked down at the stapler in my hand, ready to kill him with it but I stopped when he took it from my hands and I resisted the urge to spit in his face as I turned on my heels and left the library.

I would've tried to escape if English period wasn't the last period of the day and Mr Kim hadn't stood at the door making sure that I didn't leave. I poked my tongue on the inside of my cheek as I sat straight and still in my chair.
I had my car keys in my pocket because I was driving today and brought Czar, Victoria and I to school so I'm sure it would only be a matter of time before either of them came to fetch me and rescue me from this class. I know that when he hears the sad pathetic excuse one of them will make up, he'll let me go and I can have my mother come in tomorrow, charm him and make him stop all of this detention nonsense.
Detention was something to be ashamed of. There was no bad boys bunking class or bad girls caught with boys in the parking lot, everyone behaved in this school and everyone had a clean book. I did too, I kept quiet, I kept to myself and I didn't bother anyone and no one bothered me. Until this man came and ruined my perfectly clean record I had kept all of these years.
Mr Kim walked to my table and then pulled a chair from the desk next to me, sitting in front of me as he placed his arms on the table and revealed a stack of cards, "how about a card game?" He asked me, a smile on his face as he began shuffling the cards and I wanted to reach over the table and strangle him.
17 years of training and here I was, losing my mind over some cocky teacher. I couldn't even control my thoughts and my urges and my father would not be proud of who I had become.
The knock on the door answered his question and I watched him blankly as he stood up from the table, leaving the cards on the table and he put one hand in his pocket as he opened the door.
"Good afternoon, Sir," I heard my younger sister's voice come through, "is my sister Natalya Hutcherson here?"
I smiled inwardly, she sounded so sweet and respectful. Though she was nothing but the devil in sheep's clothing, she was as sadistic as Czar was and she was a master actress. She always had two pigtails, her uniform followed the strict protocol and she loved her teddy bear schoolbag that made her seem like the average 9 year old.
She could mislead anyone, including my mother and father. You didn't want to leave your phone around her, because if she gets a hold of it, it's game over for whatever you were doing. Telling her a secret isn't a problem, getting her to keep it is where it all begins.
Mr Kim was fooled as expected as he smiled fondly, "wow, you're a really beautiful girl," he commented as he bent down to her height and then shook her hand that she had extended.
"Thank you, Sir, my father says I'm his little princess," she giggled out as he high fived her and she looked around before her green eyes met mine as she pointed at me, "let's go home, Natalya. I'm hungry."
Mr Kim looked at me and then back at Victoria, "she's in detention, sweetheart. Unfortunately, she can't go home, so tell your mummy and daddy that she'll be coming out a bit later."
She furrowed her eyebrows, feigning confusion, "detention? What's that? Is it a class?"
"Yes, it's a class for disrespectful students and your sister is one of them," he replied in a sickeningly sweet voice to her and she tilted her head.
"But my mummy and daddy don't fetch me. My sister is the one who brings us to school every day, sir. My parents are very busy and never home," she said softly, looking to the floor and pouting, portraying sadness.
Mr Kim sighed and I knew the little devil won because he stood from crouching and faced me, "I expect you to make transport arrangements. I'll see you tomorrow after school, you're excused for today," he said and I could see my sister standing by the door with a smirk on her face.
I pulled my bag behind me as I walked to the door, not even saying goodbye as I took Victoria's small hand in mine and she and I began to walk through the empty hallways towards the huge glass doors that led to the parking lot where I saw my Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero and my brother leaning against it.
The car unlocked automatically and everyone got in. I looked into my rear view mirror and looked at Victoria who was wearing a smile, "why are people so gullible?" Victoria giggled, "are you going to tell mum about detention?" She paused, a threatening smile on her face, "or should I?"
"I hate her," I said under my breath as I looked at Czar.
