Chapter 9 - Bestfriend Card

Lucas prepared breakfast for us and drove me to the airport. Willow in the passenger's seat was asleep when I left the car. His driver and secretary are in another car convoying with us.

He stopped the car in the unloading bay. His driver in the car behind us went out of the car and offered help to unload my things, but Lucas wanted to do it himself.

"I really want to come with you." Lucas said while unloading the luggage from the trunk. He really did not shut up until the last minute.

"Let's plan our own vacation, Lucas. I need some time with my girls." i tried to get the luggage from him, but he moved it away from me.

"I'll walk you until the entrance. Are you sure you can carry these? They're quite heavy." I brought 2 baggage that I am going to check in.

"I'll be fine." He nodded and started walking. I saw from my side view that his driver went inside the driver's seat to park the car. I already miss Willow.

He handed me my luggage when I'm about to pass the guard. His frown just made me more guilty. I sure am going to miss this man.

"Take care and text me for anything." He reminded for the last time. I smiled and tip toed to give him a peck on the lips. That made the both of us blush. I walked without looking at to him. I don't want to see his reaction because that will just make me miss him more.

After checking in my luggage, I went to find our gate. Sia is already at the waiting area when I arrived. Marga and Holly advised that they are on their way to the airport.

"I still can't believe how you are the first one to get married among us. It's crazy, Naomi. You were NBSB a few months ago." Sia exclaimed when I told her how much Lucas wanted to go with us. All of them are in a long-term relationship. We should plan our next trips with our men next time.

"You really need to hold space for the impossible." I answered. I still can't believe too how fast things turned. When I go home and cook for Lucas, everything still seems unreal.

"How is it going between you? Everything well in your home?"

"In my perspective, everything is magical. Marrying the love of my life felt unreal. He's the only person that I've ever liked, you know that. Being with him now feels like a dream come true yet I cannot fully open up to him. It's like we are in a courting stage trying to get to know each other. We moved way too fast by agreeing to this marriage." I may be too obsessed over him that I took the only chance to hold him for a lifetime. I hope that we won't regret this choice.

Sia looked at me still in awe.

"This has been the best state I've seen you, Naomi. You are definitely glowing. I'm so happy to know that you ended up with the one you love."

"This is what I've always wanted. Getting what I want is my specialty. It's just that I feel guilty this time. I feel like we rushed things. You know the thing about Amery, right? I think it's my karma." Her roll eyes was funny. They always hated that woman.

"That girl has taken advantage of Lucas from the very start. Between the two of them, it was only Lucas who's in love and she knew how to take advantage of that. Still can't believe she's profiting out of him by dragging your name!" A part of my heart broke when she mentioned that Lucas loved Amery. That is something known to everybody. But it still hurts like hell every time I get reminded.

"I know. I already asked my lawyer to take action for that. It's getting out of hand." Her jaw dropped.

"You are? Why can't Lucas take care of it?!" Her pissed off voice is activated.

"I don't want him to have anything to do with her." I lied. Honestly, I don't think Lucas wanted this to escalate. He's going way too slow in handling things. I need to take care of it because it's damaging my reputation. I am used to handling things on my own way, this should not be an exception.

"Really? Is that the real reason? This will be a piece of cake to handle with his connections! That woman, Amery, does not have any power without Lucas. Social climber is her job. She sounds so bitter after finding out that Lucas married you. She thought he would always run after her. Served her right though."

It's not a big deal to take care of it. Our family lawyers are among the best in the country. It's my pride that's hurt. I want to justify the fact that Lucas is not handling this properly, but deep down I know that he's trying to protect Amery too. If he gets involved, if he speaks up, that will appear as him defending me against Amery. He couldn't do that. My brother promised me before I walked down the aisle that they will not get involved with Lucas and mine's problems and fights unless I asked for their help. They are staying silent too about this, but I know that they know what is happening.

"It's already being sorted out by my lawyer. I need this vacation to clear my mind." She agreed.

"Agree! Let's not talk about anything negative for the meantime. I'm looking forward to this vacation too. Brent is calling..." She answered her phone and at the same time my phone vibrated too. It's Lucas.

(Text me when you're boarding.) I did not know he has this clingy side. I have been single all my life that getting a text like this made me feel butterfly in my stomach.

I replied to his text. (I will. Are you in the office now?)

He replied in under 1 minute. (I went back home to drive Willow. I think he's already missing you)

That made me smile. I typed my response, but the guy who sat beside me caught my attention.

"Hey!" I did not expect to see Brent right now. He's supposed to follow us after 1 day.

"Seeing you smile on your phone is a new sight. Marriage is weird." His first 2 sentences are already making me roll my eyes.

"You changed your flight?"

"Obviously yes. I need to work on some days while we're there though."

"That's not new. We're always doing our own stuff when in a vacation. Let's just hope the signal is good over there." He nodded and placed his head on my shoulder.

"Haven't gotten proper sleep. Wake me up when we're about to board." I did not respond to that and just let him fall asleep on my shoulder. After a few minutes, I can feel the full weight of his head on my, so I know that he has really fallen asleep.

After half an hour, Holly and Marga arrived too. I couldn't hug them because Brent is still asleep on my shoulder.

"The bestfriend card didn't get revoked after your marriage, I see. Tell Brent not to do this kind of stuff in front of your husband." Holly murmured while placing her things on the seat beside us.

They are supposed to open the gates for boarding in 20 minutes. Brent is still comfortably resting.

"Let's have brunch first when we get there. Then we can go surfing in the afternoon?" Marga said. She's always in-charge of the itinerary, but this time we will be doing a chill travel. There is nothing much in our itinerary, but to roam around, surf, enjoy the famous restaurants and bars.

"Been craving seafoods lately. I just can't get enough of it." I was startled when Brent joined the conversation.

"Any specific seafood you're craving?" I asked.

"Tuna and abalone." He answered sounding exhausted.

"Fine. For sure there are a lot of restaurants offering dishes for tuna. Abalone is rare."

"I know. Leave to me finding the best restaurants in Siargao. I'll do my research later once we have organized our things in the hotel."

We finalized our plan for that day before we board. I also updated Lucas about what's happening. He replies fast to all my messages. It really feels like to a courting stage. Will he be like this 1 year into our marriage? I doubt.
