I was awake. I lay there for a few seconds, exhausted and unwilling to leave the dark depths of sleep. But I could feel three pairs of eyes on me, and I didn’t like that feeling, so I forced myself to open my own eyes. As I expected, I saw Gabe, Ash, and Ian all standing above me, staring down at me with concern. However, I didn’t expect to see them in a dark room. I’d assumed that it was already morning, but when I glimpsed the grayish sky through the window, I realized that dawn had not yet arrived.
