63 After Ariadne’s surprise move, the monsters—even the ones who had little to no intellect—were somewhat rattled at the sudden death of their commander, and we were able to take advantage of that. It was impossible to keep track of the time, but for a while, it seemed like things were going well. As I gathered my strength from the surrounding werewolves and ghouls and used it to cut down figure after figure, the elves tackled our enemies with swords and axes. I couldn’t help but be impressed by their bravery; none of them had ever faced these monsters before, but whether it was to protect their families or simply to protect themselves, they didn’t hesitate to throw themselves into the fight.
