66 I craned my neck as much as I could, lying there in the muddy grass. Just past Goldie’s head, I could see Ariadne bending over us, dark against the harsh light of the afternoon sun. Goldie’s face twisted with rage. “Stupid elf!” he screamed. “You can’t stop me!” And with that, he sliced his knife clean through Ariadne’s beloved broadsword, sending its tip flying. Ariadne stumbled back a little, swearing and staring at her broken blade. But just as Goldie raised the magical knife again, someone grabbed him by his collar and wrenched him away from me.
