21 The evening after my conversation with Ian was an eventful one. I went to bed at the usual time in the cabin that I shared with Ash, Ian, and Gabriel. But in the middle of the night, when everything was as dark as could be, I woke up to the sound of someone calling my name. In a matter of seconds, I was wide awake. I listened carefully, but for the moment there was nothing to hear. Everything outside of the cabin was completely silent except for the gentle hum of the wind. It was early March, so there were no bugs or birds or any other living creatures that I could hear. I looked around the pitch-dark cabin, wide-eyed, but nothing moved. “Guys?” I whispered. “Did you guys hear anything?” There was no reply, besides a soft snore from Gabriel. I figured that they must all be asleep. B
