25 The drive back to the camp was quiet but tense. Ariadne had put a glamour on the van so that it wouldn’t be recognized by enemies, and she drove at a frantic speed. We were all holding our breath, waiting until we got back to the safety of our camp. Ariadne hunched over the wheel, her face dark like a thundercloud. I was full of questions about what had just happened, and I was sure that the others were, too. It didn’t help that I was still haunted by the sensations that I had just felt. I thought I could still feel the long fingers of that vampire on my shoulders and Cynthia’s breath on my face. When we finally parked in the driveway of the camp, we immediately got out and headed into the rec hall. Everyone waited until they were inside to ask their questions. “What just happened?”
