The next morning, I tried to walk into the lecture hall as if last night hadn’t happened. As if an intruder hadn’t slipped into my dorm. As if I hadn’t spent the night in Adrian’s bed, wrapped in his arms. I kept my eyes down, clutching my books like a shield, and took my place at the front seat. My hands were shaky as I started scribbling on my notepad, but I felt the weight of exhaustion pressing behind my eyes. Halfway through the lecture, the door creaked open. Two uniformed police officers stepped in, scanning the room until their gaze found me.
