The gavel of the board chair came down like a hammer on my skull.
“This board has deliberated,” he announced, his voice self-important, like he was delivering some divine ruling. “We have reached a decision. Miss Hale, you are hereby suspended for one week, effective immediately, and will serve community service upon your return. Mr Liam Wolfe and Miss Samantha Corey are also mandated to serve community service for their role in the incident. This hearing is concluded.”
