(Lucy’s POV) I sat rigid in the passenger seat, arms folded, my silence louder than the hum of the engine. Adrian didn’t speak either, not at first. The only sound between us was the steady rhythm of rain on glass and my shallow breathing. When the car finally halted, I blinked and realised where we were. A quiet, expensive hotel just outside the city centre. The kind of place designed to make you forget the world outside.
