Family Ties

Family Ties Rory woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing on the nightstand. She groggily reached over to silence it, but not before seeing the name on the screen: her mother. She sighed, knowing she had to get up and face the day. And her mother's inevitable questions. As she rolled out of bed, Rory caught sight of Alex sleeping peacefully beside her. She smiled, feeling a flutter in her chest. But as she made her way to the kitchen to start the coffee, Rory's mind began to wander back to reality. Her family, her duties, her responsibilities.... She knew she couldn't avoid her mother's calls forever. Eventually, she'd have to face the music and tell her family about Alex. But for now, Rory just wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet of the morning. She poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down at the kitchen table, watching as the sun rose over the city. As she sat there, lost in thought, Rory heard a noise behind her. She turned to see Alex standing in the doorway, a sleepy smile on his face. "Morning," he said, his voice husky with sleep. Rory smiled back, feeling her heart flutter. "Morning," she replied. As they sipped their coffee together, Rory knew she had to tell Alex about her family. About the expectations and responsibilities that came with being a DeMarco. But as she looked into his eyes, Rory hesitated. She didn't want to scare him off, not yet. So she pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the present moment. On the way Alex made her feel, on the connection they shared. As they finished their coffee, Alex reached out and took Rory's hand. "I have to go," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "But I'll see you tonight?" Rory nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. She didn't want him to leave. But as she watched him walk out the door, Rory knew she had to focus on the bigger picture. On the secrets and lies that threatened to tear them apart. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. She knew she had to tell Alex about her family, about the mafia ties and the expectations that came with them. But as she stood there, lost in thought, Rory wondered if she was ready for the truth. If she was ready to face the consequences of her family's actions. And as she stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Rory's phone buzzed again. This time, it was a text from her mother: "We need to talk." Rory's heart sank, knowing she couldn't avoid the truth any longer. Would you like me to continue with Chapter 5?
