12 A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE The drive to Jo’s place is spectacular. It’s such a pretty day, the views just get better the deeper into the mountains I go. What a thrill it must be to make this drive every day. I’m belting out lyrics along with Adele as I navigate two fun switchbacks. Then I take a turn onto yet another narrow, heavily wooded road that climbs up so steeply, I wonder if my poor rattle-trap will make it. I mutter encouragements to her, hoping against hope as she groans to the top. Slowing to a snail’s pace, her nose finally crests the rise, and what is revealed leaves me so breathless I forget all about my concern for my car.
