Marissa silently watched after she put a small blanket on Gabriela to ensure the little girl was warm and comfortable. Her mother approached Marissa, put her hand on her daughter’s shoulder, and gave a hopeful smile.
“Mija, she’ll be fine. The Lord will watch over her.”

Marissa held back tears. She wanted to be strong not only for her daughter but also for her mom.
