Chapter 6 There are three dark wooden doors along the back wall of the chapel. These lead to the confessionals. Well, the two on either side do. The one in the middle is where the priest sits. When Jacob asks if it’s just like on TV, Avery tells him yes. “Little screen and all,” he says. “So he doesn’t see who you are and you can tell him all the horrible things you’ve done.” “Not me.” Jacob shakes his head for emphasis. “I haven’t really done anything bad. Nothing worth confessing, anyway.” Avery raises an eyebrow at that. “Oh, no?” He wonders why Jacob’s told him all about the boys he’s known then. If that’s not confessing, he doesn’t know what is.
