NIKOLAI We traversed through the snow for hours. By evening, Terri’s stomach grumbled, cutting through the silence of the frozen wilderness. I turned my head to sneak a peek at her, and she kept her head facing ahead, marching on. Again, her stomach grumbled. I had planned to make it further before attempting to hunt, as I had learned it was a bit more abundant a good dozen or so kilometers forward, but something inside me stopped my feet in their tracks.
