Unexpected Company

Success! Michael’s pitch has went great, the company was ready to make him an offer, he was simply waiting for his lawyers to go over the paperwork and then millions would be going into his pack. Their future was secured for generations and with wise investing that money would be there for his children and their children for ages. He was so pleased he took that girl from the car rental out and partied. They had bottle service and then took a cab back to his hotel. She was on him in a moment. “Yeah, sure thing,” as he opened the app on his phone to order her a ride.

“I’m gonna wait in the lobby,” She leaned over where he sitting on the bed and kissed his cheek and then walked away. At the door she turned and winked, “look me up if you’re in Cincinnati again, this was fun.”

He looked at the closed door, it was fun, but part of him wished for more.

Michael could feel Lucio puffing himself up, if Michael thought highly of himself, it was nothing to Lucio. He wasn’t rude or unkind, he just felt like he knew his worth and what he wanted. He went to sleep and wondered of his wolf was right.

The next day, after a plane ride and picking his car up from the airport long term parking, he was heading home. Back to his pack lands. He wasn’t quite ready to go back to the pack house though. He drove the winding backroads that took him to his family’s beach cabin. He needed some time to think.

As he drove up to the gate, the young man on duty saw the car and driver and lifted the gate, waiving his Alpha’s son into the property. He pulled to a stop in front of the cabin and saw a light on in the living room. Maybe Ms. Doris was cleaning.

He got out of his big SUV and his boots crunched heavily on the ground. He stuck his key in the door and opened it. Suddenly he was struck by the scent of cherry blossoms and crisp apple. It was refreshing and intoxicating all at once. But it also didn’t smell like wolf. It was HUMAN!

All of this registered at once as his eyes were drawn to the petite form eating ice cream on the couch. A small shriek escaped her plump lips as she scrambled off the couch.

“I’m allowed to be here! Maria said I could! Who are you? Don’t hurt me!!” A jumble of words rushed out of Penelope as she panicked. Who was this big man and was she in danger?
