Chapter 8
Nerina had fallen asleep on the couch and woke to the sound of Daar whining at the door.
“What’s the matter, girl?” Nerina sat up, wiping the sleep from her eyes and peering around the cabin. Demon was nowhere in sight. The back door was unlocked, which she did not remember doing. Somehow, she knew Demon had gotten out.
Nerina walked to the back door, calling out into the darkness for her furry companion.
“Demon! Demon…. Come on, boy. It’s time to come in.”
Of course, there was no answer. Cursing, she went back inside and pulled on her clothes. Daar continued to whine.
“It’s okay, girl, you stay here while I go out and look for him. We’ll be back.”
Nerina looked out the back door and noticed on the far left of the field were a pair of silver eyes staring back at her.
