"Damien?" Her voice brought me back to the present, and I focused on her words. "You're right," she continued. "I want to get back at him. I want him to regret cheating on me and breaking my trust." Her admission brought a glimmer of satisfaction to my eyes, my pulse quickening with anticipation. "What do you suggest I do?"
As I licked my lips to moisten the sudden dryness, I folded my hands and fixed my gaze ahead, gathering my thoughts. "When you found out he was cheating on you, and why he was cheating on you, what was your first thought?" I questioned, turning to look at her expectantly.
"Does it matter?" she countered, her expression guarded.
"It does matter," I insisted. "The first thought you have when betrayed is usually the most deadly and darkest."
