I glanced at the lady, fully expecting her to bristle with anger, and she didn't disappoint. Her glare could have cut through steel as she silently urged me to decline Damien's breakfast offer. Ignoring her unspoken message, I responded calmly, "Actually, no, I haven't. I wasn't too hungry when I left the house, but I think I am now." Dropping my bag on the counter, I made it clear that I had no intention of backing down. Whether they were dating or not was irrelevant to me.
