It took everything in me not to smile. Could it be that luck is smiling down at me already?
“You can take his place.” Duke continued. “he is a businessman through–and–through, so I suggest you come prepared.” He took a sip of his drink. “he will be here tonight and I will introduce you to him.”
“Really?” I couldn’t contain my grin. “I would be honored to have such a privilege, sir.”
“Don’t mess with him,” he warned.
“I won’t.” I quickly promised.
“I was still speaking.” Duke snapped, “Don’t interrupt me next time.”
Glancing at Veronica who glared at me, I quickly apologized. “I am sorry.”
“Like I said, do not mess with him,” he repeated, “you won’t be paying with just your money alone.” He glanced at his wristwatch. “I think it’s time for me to be out there.”
