It was what the fashionable débutantes in Albion would probably have termed a 'funny goose'. It was both embryonic and of wildly mongrel origin. As its closest neighbour, Albion should have been the natural model for the fledgling gentry of the new city-state. However, those Albion that had remained after the coup and independence were not desperately enamoured of the Royal Albion Court and replicating it on a smaller and cheaper scale was not their idea of freedom.
