Chapter 4

*Aria’s POV*

Nick and I got home. While I was putting my bag in my room, my mother came home. “Get your guys asses down here now!”, my mother yelled. 

Nick and I went down. “What the f**k are you guys doing”, she yelled. “Nothing”, I said. “Aria you're a f*****g loser, you missed 2 classes. what the f**k. Are you trying to make me look bad? huh?. f**k you”, my mother said. I was fuming inside. She was really trying to get me riled up. “Nick you missed one, you too”, she said. “You made us miss one”, Nick said. “No I didn’t, quit f*****g lying.”, she said. She grabbed Nick's hair and slapped him. “Quit hitting him, he doesn’t deserve it”, I said. “How the f**k you know what he deserves, you deserve a beating”, she yelled. “Let him go!”, I yelled. I finally got her to let Nick go. But she started coming for me. “Nick go in your room now”, I said. He listened. My mother grabbed my hair and slapped me. “Got nothing to say now huh?”, she spat in my face. “Why do you have to act like this”, I managed to get out while cupping my cheek. “Because of you and you're stupid brother, you guys are the problem.”, she yelled. “I wish I didn’t f*****g had you guys, you guys are a waste of my time”, she said while punching my face where she slapped me. That's going to leave a mark. “You know what I’m working tonight and I’m leaving for a year. Don’t bother calling. You also need to find a way to keep this house up. You need to pay the bills and clean. I better not get a call from the school either. You are not my daughter”, she kicked my side while saying it. When she got done she gave one last kick to the side. I was laying on the ground after the slap. 

“f**k”, I mumbled. My side really hurts. I don’t even know how I am going to pay for the house and the bills all together. Also, for a f*****g month. What the f**k is this s**t. I walked up to my room and opened my bag. When I opened my bag I saw Nick walking in. “You okay”, he asked. “I will be, are you okay”, I asked, trying to get up. “Yeah, i’m fine. What about you? You can barely get up”, Nick sounded worried. “Yeah, I should be a bit better by tomorrow for school. Uh set an alarm for early tomorrow because we need to clean up tomorrow. Mother is leaving for a year and we're staying here. I have to figure a way to pay rent”, I sighed. “Okay, are we going to be fine Aria”, he sighed. “Yeah, I’ll find a way.”, I smiled. Nick walked back to his room. 

I heard 2 doors closed, so I grabbed and opened a bottle of bourbon. Bourbon is good so it's a win win. It eases my pain, my sorrows and my pain. I got a buzz on my phone

Mia: I’m so sorry Aria, I shouldn’t have said that. It was so wrong. I know this is taking a toll on you. 

Aria: It’s fine, I'm sorry I snapped.

Mia: No, I deserved it. How is it going right now?

Aria: It got worse. 

She texted back but I ignored it. I did feel sorry for snapping at her. I feel guilty even more if it’s my friends. I hate it, I took a swoosh from the bottle. I consumed too much alcohol today, I put down the bottle inside my bag. I mean I am used to it, I went down this road again. I got into my bed and listened to music. I had tears coming out of my eyes, it won’t stop. I had to cover my mouth because I don’t want anyone to hear me. What did I do to deserve this? Why me? Why am I even here? Why should I be alive? I should just die. I don’t need to be here. Fuckkkkkk. I need a break. I need to focus. I found a sharp metal pen part. I held it hard. I tried to stop myself. I pressed it against my skin and pulled the force to the side of my arm. f**k it hurt. I put it down. Blood started to come out. s**t. I got a black shirt and put it on it. I wrapped and went to sleep. 

It was the next day. 

Nick woke me up and informed me mother left already. I got up and got ready. I got texts from my phone but I ignored it. 

Nick and I arrived at school, I still had my flask. I left the bottles at home. I had a lot yesterday. I went to my locker finding the group. “Aria what happened to your cheek”, she touched my cheek. “Nothing”, I said, removing her hand. Klaus was there too. “Aria, why are you so distant”, Klaus said. I rolled my eyes. I started walking to class. 

“Hey”, Klaus caught up with me. “Do you need help”, he asked. “I’m fine”, I said. I walked to my seat and Klaus sat behind me. f**k I forgot he has the same class as me. He’s going to be bothering me. 

To ease Mia and Jade worries, I decided to pull out a paper and write down. 

This is too stupid to write but I know I am not going to speak up so. Last night when I came home from the liquor store, my mother came home. She started to yell at Nick and slapped him. I couldn’t let anymore happen to him. I said something and she slapped me. She also kicked me after I said something else. She kicked me a couple times and the last one f*****g hurts. So my side hurts and the mark she also punched me. So this can answer your questions. And another one. I don’t know what I am going to do next. I don’t know if I’m going down that road again. Now I have to pay the rent and bills for a year, and I can’t even get a job. It’s too f*****g hard to deal with s**t right now.

I folded it and handed it. I forgot my sleeves were rolled up until Klaus pulled me out of my seat. Before he did Mia got the note. “Your cutting”, Klaus said. “It was an accident”, I walked back to my seat. 

“Aria I’m here you know, I am willing to lose my reputation for you.”, he sat back down. If he saw it I’m pretty sure Mia did too. She read the letter and passed it to Jade. Jade then passed it to Klaus. What the f**k but at the same time. I didn’t f*****g mind. What else do I have to lose beside Nick. Anyways, this is bull s**t. I got up and walked out of class. Ms.Smith was calling after me but I didn’t care. I walked toward the front of the school. “Hey Ari, please don’t go. You know what I am here for you. I will be till however long it takes. I will keep coming for you!”, he yelled while I kept walking away. 

I walked into a book store and found a poetry book. I also took out a quote book. I bought both of them. I read a little bit and then put them in my bag. I went to get an apple. I was a bit famished. I walked back to school and sat for Math. Mia and Jade were watching me. I was ignoring their eyes and I also had my earphones in. I was playing some country, hip-hop, and R&B songs. I was in a mood. I knew I was. I just didn’t know what I was going to do. I can pick up some street fight gigs. I mean I can fight. I did some a while ago before doing a gang thing. I don’t know about it right now though. That’s near the table. Maybe I should just ask around and see what I can do. 

I went to lunch and sat at our table. The group joined, Mia and Jade hugged me. I didn’t mind, I did need it. I felt off edge. They let go and I drank from my flask. “Aria”, Mia said. “What”, I replied. “Can I stay at your house for a bit, I’m worried for you”, She said. “Yeah why not”, I said with no emotions. Mia's parents are rich and not usually home, they were always at work and so are Jade's parents. Jade was rich too. I was just the poor. Most clothes I get are either on clearance or gifts I got from them. “Me too”, Jade said. “Alright”, I said. “The bills are already taken care of”, Mia said. “What do you mean, I said I got it. If you or Jade paid for it, I will really give the money back. I don’t need it.”, I said. “We didn’t”, Jade said. “I did.”, Klaus said. I looked up. “Why, I didn’t ask you.”, I said. I took a sip from the flask. “I know, but I care about you, and I take care of people I like and care for.”, he said. “Thank you, I will pay you back. I can’t accept this.”, I said. “No, you won’t”, he said with no emotion. “Uh yes I am, that’s a year of rent for a house. I’m going to pay you back.”, I said and left. I called in for a few fist fights. They were like $300 dollars a fight. So I can have $1200 for 5 fights plus 300 for bonus if I complete it without bleeding. It was a beginner one so I got this. Sucks for the beginners. 

I skipped my next period and went to the place for the fights. I came back and people recognized me. I said my greeting to a few people and got ready. Mia and Jade knew this place because they had my back. I don’t care anymore about what my mother says about skipping school. Forget this s**t. 

The fight ended. Some people got some punches in my but it was mainly my stomach. No blood came to show so I got $1500. I saved $1000 for Christmas. I love Christmas, no matter what state I’m in. Christmas is a weakness for me. My mind is in scrambles right now. I have another match tomorrow about 4 more matches. Maybe more if I get less punches thrown at me. I am aching. One person got my side where my mother hit me, so I am aching there. I just need to put some ice on it and I will be good for a bit. 

I got out and took a swoosh from my flask and got home. Nick and Luke were sleeping over tonight. I gave Nick money for some pizza for us and Luke. When I got home I saw more pizza. Mia and Jade ordered some. They were already here too. They were just waiting for me. I went to the kitchen and pulled out an ice pack and put it on my side. “Again Aria'', Jade said. “Yeah I need money to pay back Klaus'', I said. “Be careful”, Mia said. “If it’s getting worse, I’m stopping you”, Mias said again. She was always like the mother of the group. Which kind of sucks but she knows best. “How much did you get?”Jade asked. “$1500. 300 per fight and plus 300 for no blood.”, I said trying to sit down. “You did 4 fights?”, Jade said angrily. “Yeah so”, I said. “If you need money you can just ask us Aria'', Mia said. Jade second it too. “I know you guys do, I just don’t want it. I can get money on my own.”, I said

We made our way to my room. I took a mattress from under my bed and gave it to Mia and Jade. They bought a King one so it fits both of them. I had a King bed from like a flea market my dad got me. Mia and Jade bicker about the space. It was so funny when they started to debate. It was entertaining. I said my goodnight and past out.
