Chapter Three: As Amelia woke up in the unfamiliar hotel room, a wave of confusion and shame washed over her. Her head throbbed with the remnants of the alcohol from the previous night, clouding her thoughts. She glanced around, searching for any sign of Ethan. But he was gone, leaving her to grapple with the aftermath of their ill-advised liaison. Amelia's heart pounded in her chest as she stumbled out of the hotel room and onto the city streets. Her mind raced with questions about what had just transpired and the intentions of the enigmatic stranger. It was as if her whole world had been turned upside down overnight. Desperate for answers, Amelia retraced her steps, heading back to the bar where she had initially met Ethan. The whimsical atmosphere of the place now felt eerie and unsettling. The patrons, whom she had previously observed with a glimmer of empathetic insight, now seemed shrouded in shadow. Walking over to the bar counter, Amelia found herself face to face with a bartender, a middle-aged man with weathered eyes that held a hint of sympathy. Sensing her distress, he leaned forward, his voice barely above a whisper. "You've seen things, haven't you?" he asked, his tone filled with both concern and curiosity. Amelia hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, I... I saw glimpses of people's lives, their hidden pain. But now, I don't know what to believe anymore. And I don't understand what Ethan did to me." The bartender's eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger passing over his face. "Ethan never had good intentions. The Reflection Elixir he introduced you to is a tool of manipulation, meant to exploit the vulnerabilities of those who consume it. It reveals their truths, but in doing so, it drains their strength." Amelia's eyes widened at the revelation. She had been unknowingly caught in a twisted game, and Ethan had played her like a pawn. Amelia went back to the hotel room and sat on the edge of the bed, her mind raced with thoughts of anger and confusion. How could she have let herself be swayed by this stranger? How could she have allowed herself to be taken advantage of in such a vulnerable state? Determined to regain control over her life, Amelia reached for her phone and dialed a helpline number she found online. After a few rings, a gentle voice answered the call. "Hello, this is Sarah. How may I assist you today?" the voice on the other end said. Amelia took a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly. "Hi, Sarah. I... I've just been through something traumatic. I don't know what to do." Sarah's voice was filled with empathy. "I'm so sorry to hear that. We're here to help you. Can you tell me a bit more about what happened?" Amelia recounted the events of the previous night, spilling her heart out to Sarah. Her voice quivered as she described the encounter, her vulnerability pouring out. Sarah listened intently, offering words of comfort and encouragement. "Thank you for sharing your story, Amelia. It takes a lot of strength to open up about such a deeply painful experience. Know that you're not alone in this, and we're here to support you." With renewed hope, Amelia agreed to meet Sarah in person at a nearby cafe. The prospect of someone genuinely caring for her well-being and helping her through this difficult time brought a glimmer of light to her darkest moments. As the afternoon sun began to fade, Amelia walked into the bustling cafe. She scanned the room, searching for Sarah's familiar face. When her eyes caught sight of her, sitting at a corner booth, a sense of relief washed over her. Sarah flashed a kind smile and greeted Amelia warmly. "I'm so glad you came. Please, have a seat," she said, gesturing to the chair across from her. Over cups of hot tea, Amelia poured out her heart once more, sharing the raw emotions and the aftermath of her encounter. Sarah listened, offering support and practical advice. "It's natural to feel confused and blame yourself in situations like these, Amelia," Sarah said gently. "But I want you to know that the fault lies with the person who violated your trust, not with you. You didn't deserve to be treated this way." Amelia nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. It was a relief to have someone validate her feelings and assure her that she wasn't to blame. With Sarah's guidance, Amelia started taking small steps toward healing and reclaiming her sense of self-worth. She attended therapy sessions, joined support groups, and surrounded herself with friends who uplifted and supported her. The weight of Ethan's actions began to feel less burdensome as Amelia focused on her healing journey. As days turned into weeks, Amelia's physical health began to take a toll on her. She started experiencing unusual symptoms, feeling lethargic and nauseous. Worried about these persistent issues, Amelia decided it was finally time to see a doctor. Sitting in the waiting room of the clinic, Amelia nervously tapped her foot against the floor. When her name was called, she stood up and followed the nurse into an examination room. A few minutes later, the doctor entered with a warm smile. "Good afternoon, Amelia. I'm Dr. Johnson. How are you feeling today?" he asked kindly. Amelia sighed, her voice heavy with concern. "To be honest, doctor, I've been feeling off lately. I've been experiencing strange symptoms, and they seem to be getting worse." Dr. Johnson nodded empathetically. "I understand. Let's get some tests done and see if we can find out what's going on, okay? We're here to help you." Amelia nodded and proceeded with the necessary tests. Anxious thoughts filled her mind as she waited for the results. Finally, Dr. Johnson returned with a small smile on his face but hesitated before speaking. "Amelia, I have the test results here. It seems that you're approximately two weeks pregnant," he said gently. Amelia's eyes widened, her heart dropping with a mix of sadness and anger. "Pregnant? But... but this isn't what I wanted. I don't even know who the father is," she murmured, her voice trembling. Dr. Johnson's expression softened, understanding the weight of Amelia's situation. "I can only imagine how overwhelming this must feel for you. It's important to discuss your options and find the support you need. Would you like me to provide resources for counseling or other services?" Amelia nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Yes, please. I don't know what to do or where to start. I just need some guidance." This made her think about what to do and how to find the stranger who got her pregnant.
